Voyage by: Patrick Jones

A senseless war,

A loss of life.

The only victors

Are hardship and strife.

A land that is

No longer free.

A land that was

And used to be

A peaceful place

Without a care,

But now it is

Dry and bare.

Now I travel

To a different land,

To another sea

With different sand.

My heart is weary

As the burdens grow.

I try to forget

What I used to know.

I will start anew

In the land of the free.

I will do what is best

And just be me.

I will no longer hide

Behind a petty mask.

I shall have a new life.

I'll get through this task.

This isn't a battle

Fought with guns and swords.

This isn't a battle

Between men and lords.

This is a battle

That is fought within,

Where your heart decides

Who will win.

My thoughts recede

As I see the new land.

A whole new destiny

Is now at hand.
