A phoenix cries inside of me

But these tears will not heal

I remember a time long past

When we determined what was "real"

A phoenix cries inside of me

A gentle sobbing tune

Who would have thought that we two friends

Could grow apart so soon?

A phoenix cries inside of me

And the wild horses run away

Comet, Barbarian, Mystic

In a dusty stable they now stay.

A phoenix cries inside of me

Tears that I cannot show

What could have torn us apart?

I suppose I'll never know.

A phoenix cries inside of me

It's crying out for you

A better friend I'd never had

Through the worst, you stayed true.

A phoenix cries inside of me

For days long since past

I'll miss you, my dear old friend.

The time went by too fast.
