This poem we were allowed to write as anybody, or just yourself. This was right around September 11th. The only pattern to this was the first two words in each line. After I wrote this and then read it out loud to some friends, I almost started crying.

I Am

I am an American and a passenger on the fated flight.

I wonder how so much hate can exist.

I hear my friends and families calling out to each other for comfort.

I see America coming together over this flight.

I want a chance to tell my family good bye.

I am an American and a passenger of that fated flight.

I pretend that my life and death will have a meaning.

I feel much sadness at being unable to do anything to prevent this awful day.

I touch my seat partner to comfort her.

I worry my friends will mourn me too long and not live.

I cry for all the innocent who will soon die.

I am an American and a passenger on the fated flight.

I understand I will die today, but it will be a hero's death.

I say life it too short not to live it to the fullest.

I dream of the day the world comes together to fight for peace, liberty, and freedom.

I try to comfort those around me, but what can one person do.

I hope this is all just a nightmare that I and everyone else will wake up from.

I am an American and a passenger on the fated flight.

Please review; let me know what you thought.
