*note* This following story is dedicated to my friend Ian... I may not have known him for THAT long of a time, but he still means the world to me!... so here you go buddy, hopfully we'll stay friends forever!

"Sighs: Ian and Nicole"

Everybody else was unreachable, or just not important to us at the time, so we were all we had to keep each other from going insane! We didn't really have much to talk about, but the mere presence was enough. Me and Ian we're a match made in heaven ( just as friends of course) basically all that night we talked about... nonsense really just nothing, but thats the way we liked it!

We were at Ian's house just lazing around his basement, the outside world was covered in snow and we had nowhere to go no where to be. Ian was at his computer, doing something or another, I was laying on the floor vertically to his chair.

"Nicolioioio?" He said in his little sighing voice that makes you know he's overly bored with he computer!
"yyyyyeeeeeesssssss????" I said turning my self onto my side facing him. He came down onto the floor, laying himself on his side, us face to face.
"what do ya wanna dooo?" I starred him straight in the face, no blinking no nothing.
" I don't know.... and thats the last time I am answering that question"

As the night went on we talked about this and that... saying silly little things. Of course I had to ask about the girls in his life (none of them actually girlfriends but I always reassure him that he would find someone someday). I lifted myself up on my elbow, I was looking down upon Ian as he was laying on his back with his hands tucked under his head.
"SO, how's that girl at work?" I asked him the same question I always ask after he comes back from work, "did you get a chance to ask her out for dinner?"
" We were way to busy to get the opportunity," he stopped for a second and sighed. "Im just making up excuses to protect myslef form rejection."
"Ian, you probably WERE to busy to ask her... no biggy," I poked him in the nose and wiggled it with my finger. "you better do it next time though, or I'll beat you." He gave some little sad, pouty face.
"Don't even put on that face," he turned his face the other way and covered it with his arm. I slapped his ass, "please turn your face back to me you nerd." He turned back to me with a huge grin on his face, we both started laughing.

*An hour later*
We laid there, side by side everything was perfectly silent... suddenly, "SSSOOOOOOOO." He said immensely loud, out of nowhere. I jumped out of surprise and snapped back at him, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
he looked at me... blinked, "anyway," he said. " how was your diner with Eric, you know that guy you said you would never see again?!?" He asked, referring to Scott's and my break up... that day Ian was there to catch me.
" It was fine," I said in a frightening way with a frightened look on my face afraid that he was going to lecture me. That fear suddenly went away when a girlish giggle came over him, "your gonna get back together with him aren't you?" I giggled along with him, and playfully pushed his shoulder. "No, I don't think I will" my eyes turned down, and things got serious. "Im just not attacked to him like THAT anymore... I don't think I ever was, hes just not my type." I replied, "why? did you want us to get back together again?" He paused for a second, "not really, I never REALLY met the guy and I get a bad vibe from him." He told me with sincerity, he pulled a piece of hair away from my face. " I just want you to be happy, okay?" I mouthed OK back to him and shock my head yes.

Heavy sighs filled the room, it was getting late and we still had nothing to do, but by that point I just didn't seem to care anymore. Ian was sitting up against his bed looking through some old issue of Guitar One magazine, I was still laying on the floor starring up to the ceiling.
I looked over to Ian, and saw him for what he truely was, a great person and a best friend. Funny how one look at, one person, doing something totally normal could make you realize you've hit the jackpot!
I rolled over onto my stomach, got up on all fours and crawled over to Ian, I sat next to him and gently rested my head on his soft shoulder.
"I love you Ian!" I softly confessed to him. He kissed me on top of my head, "love you more, Nicole" A smile I thought was lost took over my face, I never was this happy with anyone as I was with Ian at that single moment.
" Your to good to me," I softly told my friend.
"Naw, I should be better" That smile which took over my face before got bigger, my eyes were over whelmed with tears of absolute joy.

We stayed there sitting next to each other, him reading and me just happy to be alive.

*another note* the ending mood of this story was inspired by the song "Dont know why" by Norah Jones
