The Touch of the Gods

By: Neko-chan

A/N: Anyway, I hope that I'm not offending anyone with this poem, but I AM Wiccan and this is my dedication to my personal god/goddesses. I'll be mentioning Loki, Morrigan, Eres, Bastet, Hades, Anubis, and Danu. (I know that these types of gods and goddesses are usually only paid homage to by more powerful people than myself, they are still my patron/favorite/personal gods and goddesses.) I also realize that my religion is more Wicca-centered, but my worshiping style is more Pagan-like. Anyway, enjoy!

Centuries pass...

Millennia goes by.

Locked, sleeping;

in a cold, dark slumber.

A rumbling.

A touch.

Finally...

they are awakened.

Called once again.

Called by name.

Called to be our gods...

and goddesses.

Followers once again.

Honored once again.

Loved once again.

Revered once again.

Feared...

once again.

* * *

It's been a long time...

no?

Sleeping and waiting;

dormant.

You've come back, though.

We've missed you.

We've feared you.

We've...remembered...you.

Gods and Goddesses

of all flavoring.

Of all backgrounds.

Worshiped once again.

It _has_ been a long time.

* * *

Here I sit.

At night.

Thinking

in the darkness.

It is obsidian.

There are shadows.

There are tricksters

and crows.

We meet again.

'Tis been a long time.

We have missed you...

but never forgotten.

A cat's foot stalking.

Eyes gleam in the night.

The Rites of the Dead

fill the air.

Strange, isn't it?

Strange to chose these

as my patron gods

and goddesses?

I don't know why.

I don't know how.

I don't know when.

But I _do_ know...

I have been touched by the Gods.

'Tis scary,

in a way.

Exhilarating.

But right.

Chaos roams

tonight.

Wisdom shows

this night.

Mother of my people,

the Celts.

Goddess of

the Tuatha de Danaan.

What is the Underworld?

What is Hades?

Scary.

But comforting.

It was a cold and dark night,

the moon full and round,

when the touch of the gods

came upon me.

I knew I was not alone.

I knew I would never be alone.

My faith.

My beliefs.

Maybe you understand?

Maybe you don't?

Maybe you know

all too well.

'Twas a night just like this...

when I felt their hands upon me.

It's something that can't

really be explained.

But something that

can be understood by most.

If not...

then wait.

This is my faith.

This is my belief.

This is my dream.

This is my reality.

This is my _hope._

'Tis a dark and lonely road

most of us must walk.

Filled with hardships

and filled with happiness.

Take comfort in that

happiness.

Take comfort in that

life.

And know this...

you do not walk alone.

The gods and goddesses are among us.

Their touch is within us.
