"Perchance To Dream"

(Opening credits roll as the camera films a thunderstorm. Gray clouds fill the shot and lightning flashes across the screen. Finally, once the credits are done, the screen fades to black.)

(Camera films sun rising above horizon. Shot speeds up and sun sets, moon rises, sun rises, and sun sets again--this happens repeatedly.)

Puck: (As sun sets for the tenth time) No one really understands what goes on in the minds of others. No one really understands what each action, each thought, each feeling leads up to. I've watched, been ignored, and left alone in the shadows. Even now, it's hard for me to understand why people do the things that they do. It's...(pauses)...confusing, sometimes.

(Sun and moon slow down, until both move just a little bit faster than normal. Sun finally sets and the moon rises above the horizon. Camera zooms in on moon and then films past, zooming in on the blackness between the stars. Slowly, camera zooms away from the space and backs away, revealing that the camera is backing away from an eye's pupil. Face slowly fills screen and camera continues to back away until whole upper body is seen. Light hair--silvery. Pale skin. And pointed ears. Blackness surrounds character and character seems to be lone spot in an eternity of space. Bows mockingly and smiles slightly.)

Puck: (raises eyebrow) My name is Robin Goodfellow, though I'm sure you've heard of me by quite a different name. Puck. Centuries have passed and times have changed. Things seem so different...and yet everything remains the same. How can they not? (shrugs) It's part of human nature to be so adaptive...and yet so stubborn and unyielding. It seems impossible that they could manage to be both, but (laughs mockingly) they manage to do so quite well. 'Tis interesting, to say the least. (pauses and looks thoughtful, staring at stage right, then returning attention to camera) And this is where my story begins. (gestures around himself) There is no faerie queen or faerie king in my story...at least, not in this one. (looks sly and smiles slightly) This story is wholly my own. It is told by my perspective and is seen through my eyes. And, through it all, one thing remains the same... (laughs) Lord, what fools these mortals be!

(Screen fades to black)
