A/N: For heaven’s sake, please don’t read this if you hate inspirational or stories that describe truth of our lack of society. If you like deep thoughts, you will like this...hopefully? Dialogue may be confusing but if you have ever read a book before, you should be able to diversify the dialogue from the sentence. Yes, the style takes after the two books Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton.
Young girl. Thin black hair, brown eyes, body of a Japanese frame, mild, stressed appearance. Fourteen years old, questionable quandary of the mind. Timidly, she walks to what might be her friends. They see her and talk about another object of abuse. Friends.
-Hi. She shrugs to feel noticed.
-Morning. One of the three mentions. Anyway, about this Saturday, Kaii and I are going to meet on our first date at the theme park. Of course I’m going to have to introduce him to my parents who always can’t seem to leave me alone.
That one rolls her eyes.
-So is the party, Friday or Saturday? Highlighted hair Ayako asks. There is this cute skirt I wanted to get from the mall the other day that I can wear!
Bell rings for next class. All wave a farewell. They tell one another to meet in the front of the campus. None look directly at the young girl. Think black hair. Brown eyes. Body of a Japanese frame. Mild. Stressed Appearance. Fourteen years old. Questionable quandary of the mind.
She is not like the other three. She is not gifted with a flattering appearance. She is not skinny enough to be called skinny, neither is she fat enough to be called fat. She bears a visible waist, bears potential to be somewhat skinny if she did not disguise herself in large uniforms.
Girl named Minoko Iwahara. Girl who is fourteen years of age attends Tokyo Junior High. She is not smart. She is not popular. She is not athletic. She is not attractive. She is not substantially skinny enough to be considered glamorous. She is the feared title many girls hold labeled on their foreheads.
Ordinary.
-Today’s lesson, we shall cover the trigonometry functions of tangent, sine, and cosine. Over here as you can see, Geometry teacher holds the chalk towards the board to scribble three insignificant signs.
So sick of this class, wanders in the thoughts of Minoko. Worries should be placed what to say during lunch.
-Sine is opposite over hypotenuse.
I wonder if there holds a special formula to know how to for everyone to notice me, she stares at the board. Blank stare. How will I manage my mile run this time? If I get over eight minutes again, then I am going to be considered ‘out’.
-Cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse. Tangent is opposite over adjacent sides. Geometry teacher gives look of death to spot its prey. The death look lands on Minoko. Is there something you don’t understand, Minoko? Pay attention and perhaps you can understand what I’m talking about.
The meal is finished. He turns away to prowl on his dusty chalkboard. Girl of fourteen years burns red in embarrassment. Some students smirk at her. It sucks to be the object of the death look of the Geometry teacher Ebisawa.
-Friends of Ai. I thought I already talked to Ai about how I felt about her other friends looking at me like that. Minoko sighs.
-I’m sorry, Ebisawa-sensei. Girl replies in monotone. He replies with a sigh of annoyance? Hopeless? Perhaps the onslaught of death continues.
-Please see me after class, Minoko. He says turning back to the board. She is not in death anymore.
She is in hell.
Damn. Again. What is it with math teachers? Do they expect all of creation to listen to their awful lectures for one hour? More students glance at her and look away once she sees them looking. One of them was Yosai Kada, an extremely popular guy not to mention, her crush on him lasting since they were in preschool. But to this day, he does notice her existence.
Perhaps she should be degraded by more onslaughts of stabs of glares.
Bell rings. Class is over. Redemption arrives. Lunch begins. Hell is over another day. Students race out of class. They fear of being dragged into the pits of reincarnate hell and be poked by pitchforks to work some more math problems or another bullshit essay.
Last, Minoko places school materials in place. Girl carries her bag and walks to the Geometry teacher of death’s desk where he sits at his royal throne of doom waiting to give the execution sentence to all who stand against him. He looks up. This is the moment where one must pray his sentence is not too severe.
-Minoko. He sighs at the sound of her name. Geometry teacher of death flips through his Doomsday book in attempts to find her name under the direct order of hell. She thinks for a moment what to expect. Maybe a D in the class. You need to pull up your efforts. I know this subject is hard and although you are not performing as one of the worst in the class, this is a serious matter. From a B, you drop to a C- within less than two weeks. No homework assignments have been turned in for the past three days. Can you tell me why?
-Is that all? She asks. So the sentence was not as serious as she believed it would. Maybe she can get by today.
-This is your grade, Minoko. Not mine. He drones. If you cannot pull this up by the next test, I may have to have a conference with your parents about your poor effort in this class. I know you can do better than this.
That is what every single teacher says, she desires to say. Nothing would make situations any better than what has been done. She did not bear the courage to snap it in his face. She did not reply.
He sighs and sits back against his chair.
-You are dismissed. He waves his hand as the magician who sends away the victim. The ingenious devil has claimed another life today. She leaves the room and leans against the window. Minoko looks down towards the front of the campus and sees her friends eat and chat happily amongst themselves.
Won’t eat with them today. She thought. I shall go home and sleep.
Girl decides to exit through the back of the school.
A/N:: Rewrite of the original. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then it’s fine. You don’t need to know. Anyway, it’s multichapter, yes, and I hope you enjoyed this :)!
