Dreams

Once I dreamed a dream

that never would come true.

When I look at you,

I see it;

I feel it

but when I turn my gaze to you

I just can’t help but dream.

Dream the dream that would never be.

I’ve hurt myself by dreaming –

Dreaming about you and me.

There’s a pain like blistering wounds.

somewhere deep within me.

When it’s hurting like

hot searing coals,

I would dream the dream

that I hope would one day come true.

I long for the day

when sweet bliss shall bloom

under your gaze

Till then there’ll always be pain,

infinite as the universe.
