Summary: Kara, Keelah, and Megan are three teenagers who live in Derrin, Michigan. One day, when checking on the plumber in Keelah's basement, the three girls discover that Keelah's vicious pet rabbit, Cornflakes, is a cold-blooded murderer. They try to keep him under surveillance, but the clever rodent escapes and goes on a mad killing spree through the town. Now the three teens must find Cornflakes and stop him before things get too out of hand!

This story is NOT an intended copy of anything. It may sound like the story Bunnicula, but I swear to you, I've never read that story. And if anyone still ahs a problem with me, then fine, I don't own Bunnicula. In The Eye of Cornflakes IS, however, loosely based on a certain 'vicious beast' from a certain Monty Python movie... ahem... "There it tis'!" "Wot, behind the rabbit?" "No it tis' the rabbit!!" "You silly sod, I almost soiled my armor!" I do not own that either, and I'm sorry if I infringed on anyone's rights, I did not mean to, and I apologize, the concept just got me thinking...

I'm going to plead with you. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't steal my story! Keelah and I worked very hard on this (believe it or not) and I'm not about to have our efforts at a true story squashed by some sshole who decides to publish my idea. Thank you, ~Kara.

Everyone but you!

Part 1
Prologue

"Hello, Miss? I'm here to fix a broken pipe. Is this the right house?"
"Yes, come in please." said Mrs. Gelliams. "It's down in the basement."
She led the plump man downstairs and showed him the broken spot, which was close to the stairway.
"Ok, thanks, Mam. I'll look at it."
"Good, thank you." Mrs. Gelliams said. "I'll be upstairs. Would you like anything to drink?"
"Umm, sure. That'd be nice."
"All right." She left to go upstairs, then returned a few minutes later with a tall glass of cool lemonade for the overly obese plumber. "Here you are." She handed him the glass, then turned around and retreated back to the kitchen.
As soon as Mrs. Gelliams was out of sight, the plumber took a sip of the lemonade and licked his lips. Then he pulled a small bottle of vodka out of his toolbox, twisted it open, and poured more than necessary into the lemonade. He then took another sip and smiled, satisfied. Inconspicuously, he slipped the bottle back into his toolbox and got back to work.
The man knelt down to inspect the large puddle of water at the base of the pipe, then moved up to the break.
It just looked as if the pipe had rusted and the water leaked out. All he had to do was replace it. He didn't have the proper supplies at the moment, but he'd get them later that day. To get the job done faster, he decided to remove the rusted pipe right now.
Suddenly, as he reached for the wrench in his toolbox, he heard a rustling noise in the corner of the room, followed by a twitchy, clicking noise.
He looked in the direction of the noise. It was then that he noticed how dark and eerie the room was. Sort of gloomy and cold.
He shivered although he wasn't even very cold.
There was something down there, in the basement with him, and it was over there in the corner, where he'd heard the scuffling sound previously.
The large man froze and tried not to move so whatever it was wouldn't notice him, but fear overcame him and he dropped his wrench.
He heard the scattering of tiny, clawed feet coming towards him, but whatever it was that was making that noise wasn't visible to him yet. He had a feeling that it intended to show itself though.
As it edged closer, he held his breath, fearing for the worst. Then, what should emerge from behind the couch but... a small, tan rabbit.
The man sighed in relief, exhaling a long shuddering breath that he hadn't even realised he'd been holding in. He had almost had a heart attack believing that the noise was a vicious wild animal or something.
"Stupid bunny!" he muttered, laughing at how foolish he'd been.
He picked up his wrench and attempted to work on the pipe again, but the feeling of the rabbit gazing at him made him stop.
He turned to look at the rabbit, annoyed that it was still there, just staring at him with cold, mean, beady, black eyes.
"Go away!" he demanded.
The bunny didn't move.
"I said BEAT IT!!"
No reaction. It remained still. This made the plumber angry and annoyed, and he stepped towards the bunny, gesturing with his hands.
"Go on, SCOOT!" He took another step forward. When the rabbit still did not budge, the plumber picked up a small piece of metal lying on the ground and tossed it at the rabbit. Uh oh. Big mistake! It landed at his feet and the bunny backed away, surprised. Then it's expression changed.
Without warning, the rabbit jumped several feet into the air and lunged at the man!!
With no time to react, the plumber was brought down by the ravenous creature. He was lying on his back now, with the rabbit on his stomach. He wanted to scream, but somehow, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
He could feel the bunny making his way up towards his face. As an overwhelming fear built up inside of him, he came face to face with it's evil stare.
Then the rabbit bit into the man's throat, right through the bone, decapitating him in a matter of seconds. Finally, he bit open his head, and devoured his juicy brain, a rewarding dessert.
The deed was done. The rabbit satisfied. As he left to go back to his corner to clean himself up, he looked back at the body without even a hint of emotion, lying in a pool of dark, red blood.
If you didn't know better, you could swear he was smiling...

Chapter 1

Keelah Gelliams, Megan Willyers, and Kara Windof, all 13 year old girls, walked into Keelah's kitchen where Keelah's mother was washing dishes.
"Keelah," she said. "The plumber's been down there for a long time. Too long. Go check on him, please."
Keelah protested, "But mom-"
"NO ARGUING! Go check!"
All three girls trudged down the stairs that led to Keelah's basement. Before they reached the last step, however, Keelah, a short haired blonde, said, "You guys aren't wearing white socks are you?"
Megan's eyes widened, but before she could say anything, Kara let out a bloodcurdling scream.
"Well I'm so-rry Kara" Keelah said annoyed. "I didn't have time to clean up before you came over!"
"No-!" Kara, a short haired brunette, gasped, "There's a body down here! There's blood! This-- this body has no head!!"
"Ummm... Keelah? Do you normally keep decapitated bodies in your basement?" Megan asked.
"Only on Tuesdays!" joked Keelah.
"I can't believe you're both joking about this!!" Kara cried, near hysteria. "This is a dead, decapitated body!!! In your basement!!!"
"So what? Here's my motto: Not my body, not my problem."
"This isn't good!!" Kara screamed.
"It would be if it was Kyle Noore." Megan piped up.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right." Kara agreed, calming down just a bit -- but only for a second. "What are we going to do?!" she fretted.
"Keelah, what are you doing down there?" her mother's voice sounded from upstairs.
"Umm, mom? The plumber's dead."
"Funny Keelah. Have you been into the Kahlua again?"
"NO!!"
There was a moment of silence as Mrs. Gelliams thought about this, then, "All right. I'll be down in a minute."
The girls turned back to the body of the dead plumber and were astonished to see Keelah's tan-colored rabbit, Cornflakes, sitting in the pool of blood, looking at Kara, Keelah and Megan expectantly.
"Aww, poor Cornflakes! He must be so scared!! He's the only one who saw what happened. Look at him playing in the blood!!" Keelah replied, picking him up and squeezing him against her comfortingly.
"Uhh, Keelah?" Kara said. "Doesn't it surprise you at all that there's blood all over Cornflake's lips and face?"
"No..." Keelah hesitated, and continued when Megan and Kara looked at her inquiringly, eyebrows raised in question. "Well, maybe he was thirsty and thought it was water because he didn't know that it was red. Rabbits are color blind ya know?"
"Nooo, that's dogs."
"SHUT UP KARA!! YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE TECHNICAL!!!"
Kara grinned.
Keelah sighed. "Well... my rabbit couldn't have killed a person, could he? I mean, rabbits can't do that, can they?"
They shrugged.
"Hmm..." Keelah set Cornflakes back down on the floor and he ran over to the body again. She thought about the concept of her rabbit killing someone in cold blood. She was doubtful that he could, but then, suddenly, her doubts were confirmed when Cornflakes practically unhinged his jaw and gulped the body, exluding the head, down his throat -- WHOLE!!!!
"Damn, that thing's got a big mouth!" Megan exclaimed, not believing her own eyes.
"It- it can't be!!" Keelah stammered.
After Cornflakes devoured the body entirely, he licked his lips, then burped ungracefully and started lapping up the blood indignantly.
His feast was interrupted by the sound of Keelah's mom coming down the stairs. As soon as her foot hit the first step, Cornflakes quickly scattered back to the corner of the room that he had previously returned to after committing his horrible crime, and proceeded to lick himself clean.
"So, what's this about a dead plumber?" Keelah's mom asked as she walked down the stairs and into view.
"NO MOM!! Don't come down here!!" Keelah said, running up the stairs. She didn't want her mom to find out that Cornflakes was a killer, then want to get rid of him, as she wasn't entirely sure that Cornflakes HAD actually, killed the plumber. Her mom stopped and Kara and Megan blocked her view of the blood and head.
"Keelah?" her mom began, annoyed, "What's back there? What are you hiding?"
"Nothing, Mother!" Keelah said flakily, trying to get in front of her mother's wandering eyes.
"Well... ok then..." she seemed unsure, "So... what did you want then?"
"Oh, nothing important, never mind!"
"I don't believe you! What are you hiding from me Keelah, let me pass!"
"NO!"
"YES!!!" she practically roared, shoving her daughter aside.
Keelah tripped on the stairs and let her mother go past her. There was no stopping her mother when she was angry...
Instantly, her mother saw the blood. She gasped. "KEELAH!!!"
"I DIDN'T DO IT!!" Keelah protested.
Mrs. Gelliams looked at her daughter warily. "Keelah, I can't believe you did this!! I always knew you'd snap one day, but not this soon -- and not this drastically!!!"
"But I-"
"No. I don't want to hear it." she said shamefully.
"But Mom!" Keelah said, "It wasn't me, it was Cornflakes!!!" she ran over to the corner and snatched up her rabbit, who had, by this time, cleaned himself dry so he looked as normal as ever.
"Oh sure honey! Blame it on the poor frightened rabbit!! Now where's the body, WHERE DID YOU HIDE IT?!!!!"
"I DIDN'T KILL ANYONE!"
"Oh no, she's in denial." Her mom muttered out loud, as if Keelah weren't standing right there in the room with her. "You're more crazy than I thought."
Suddenly, her expression changed and she ran over to Keelah and hugged her, wrapping her in her arms and rocking her back and forth quickly. "Don't worry, Baby! I won't let them take you away! I'll never let them take you, EVER! You're my baby forever, it's Ok, it's Ok... Don't worry..." She was sobbing uncontrollably.
Kara and Megan, who'd been standing there the whole time watching the ordeal in disbelief, snickered at Keelah's expense. Keelah glared daggers at them both and mouthed "SHUT UP!!!"
"Mom, come on. I found him like this! I didn't kill anybody!!" Keelah pleaded.
"That's right honey, you didn't!"
"Moooommm!!!" Keeah whined, prying herself away. "Get a hold of yourself, I didn't do it!"
"You just keep telling yourself that and I'll go get a mop. If the police come, then come and get ME Ok?"
Keelah sighed. As her mom passed her to go upstairs, she whispered a little too loudly, gesturing towards Kara and Megan, "If they threaten to tell, do away with them. One quick swipe and they're through with!! Remember, dead people don't tattle!!" She turned and walked slowly up the basement stairs with her suspicious looking eyes on Kara and Megan the whole time. Then she disappeared around the corner.

Chapter 2

As soon as her mother left the room, Keelah turned to the wide-eyed Kara and Megan.
"Sorry about that. I'm not going to kill you, don't worry."
"I'm not worried about you killing me," Megan began, "I'm more worried about your rabbit killing me." she paused. "My god, did I just say I was more afraid of a rodent than a human being?"
Keelah smirked, then got serious and said, "Ok, if Cornflakes really did kill the plumber, then we'll have to prevent him from killing again. Will you stay the night here with me and help me watch him?"
"Will he eat me?" Kara asked.
"Hopefully not, but I guess we'll just see, won't we?!"
Kara pasted a frightened, unsure expression on her face and attempted to protest, but her stammering only fell on deaf ears as Keelah and Megan began to dash up the steps as far away from Cornflakes as possible. Helpless, Kara was only able to turn and follow without argument.

Kara gripped her warm sheets tighter. Megan's eyes rolled around. Keelah's eyes were slitted. She didn't seem to be afraid, but she and her two friends were petrified.
The girls had brought the rabbit upstairs to observe him closer. It was sitting under a chair in Keelah's bedroom close to the door, and apparently plotting.
Kara heard a "clickety-click" and grabbed her flashlight, shining it into a pair of black beady eyes. "Get away!" Yelled Kara, waving her arms frantically.
"Do you know the difference between observe and harass, Kara?" Sneered Megan.
"Yes... but do you want to be eaten? No?! Well, neither do I!"
"Quiet, you're scaring him off!"
"Off from what, Keelah? Killing me?"
"I'd have no problem if he did!"
"Anyone up for a game of balderdash?" Yelled Megan, trying to change the subject.
"Me!" yelled Keelah
"Sure!" Kara agreed
"Ok, it's unanimous."

Later that evening...

"The word is haboob."
Keelah and Kara snickered, writing on their pads of paper. Keelah laughed, then handed hers in. Kara smirked, then folded hers and gave it to Megan.
"An insane asylum." Read Megan, then picked up the next one. "An African storm. One sick man. So what are your choices?"
"Um, I don't mean to frighten you guys..." Said Kara, interupting the game, "But Cornflakes isn't under the chair!"
She was right...the rabbit was gone.

Chapter 3

"GAH!!!" Keelah yelled. All three girls stood up on Keelah's bed and looked around on the ground frantically.
"WHERE THE HELL IS IT?" Megan screamed to Kara.
"I don't know! I just noticed he was missing!" Kara replied.
Suddenly, a figure appeared under Kara's sleeping bag and started moving.
"Oh my God! There he is!" Kara said, pointing.
Keelah and Megan looked, and their eyes widened. The lump of the rabbit seemed to be confused of his direction at first, but then he got a sense of where he was and where he wanted to be...the door. It took them a minute to realize where he was heading.
"You guys, he's gonna get out!" Megan exclaimed.
"And I vote you go get him!" Kara said, pushing Keelah off the edge. Instantly, she grabbed Kara's arm and teetered on the edge for a minute. Then she fell, taking Kara with her and yelling, "Then you're coming with me!!"
They landed right on top of Cornflakes. From beneath them, they could hear the grinding of teeth as Cornflakes struggled to get loose.
"Ahhhh!" The girls screamed, as they started to roll off of him and as far away as possible. Before they could react however, Megan jumped off the bed and slammed the door shut just in time.
Kara scooped up Cornflakes in the bundle of blankets, and yelled, "I GOT IT! I GOT IT! SHIT!!" Suddenly realizing what she was holding, Kara dropped the bundle. Yet just before it hit the ground, Keelah caught it.
They all sighed in relief, but Cornflakes seemed to be having a fit inside the bundle. As Keelah held it out as far away from her as humanly possible, they all stared at it, and Megan asked, "What are we going to do with him?"
"Put him back in his cage, I'm not going to watch him any more!" said Keelah.
"Good idea." Megan replied.
They brought Cornflakes back to the basement and put him in his cage, making sure it was closed tightly. For extra safety, they tied twenty feet of heavy chain, which Keelah found in the closet, around the cage. When they were done, all you could see of Cornflakes was one cold, staring eye, which was just barely visible from a hole in the chain.
"That ought to hold him." Kara commented, turning to go back upstairs.
Megan looked at the clock. It was 4:24 in the morning, and she wasn't the least bit tired. Kara didn't seem tired either. You could tell by the tense look on her face, and the fact that she jumped at every little sound she heard.
Keelah, however, showed otherwise. She was sleeping in a chair and had been like that for many hours now. Megan did not know how she could be so calm about their situation. It's not every day that your rabbit goes crazy and starts decapitating people. She looked over at Kara, and they stared at each other for a long minute.
"You tired?" Kara asked, raising one eyebrow.
"Nope, you?"
"Nope."
Megan was lying on Keelah's bed, and Kara was sitting in front of her on the floor. Both realized they should try to sleep, since they had a lot of stuff they had to figure out tomorrow, and Cornflakes was locked up tight for the meantime, but they just couldn't convince themselves to fall asleep.
Kara pulled out one of Keelah's books, "Wicca Chic," and started to read. She hadn't even gotten past the fourth page before she heard a sound. It sounded like a clank of metal and some scratching. She looked around and came face-to-face with Megan.
"I'm not crazy, you heard that too, right?" Kara asked. Megan nodded silently in response. The house was completely silent. There were more rustling noises, then THUMP...THUMP...THUMP.
The two girls held their breath and waited. Kara could sense something was near them. She bit her lip. "Keelah!" She whispered loudly.
Megan nudged Keelah roughly. "KEELAH!! Wake up dammit!! Something's happening!"
Keelah groaned and pushed Megan's arm away. Rolling over reluctantly, she whined, "No mommy! I want to ride the springy pony!"
Megan snickered and bent down to whisper, "I'm sorry honey, the pony's dead!"
Keelah woke up with a start. "YOU DICKHEAD!" She yelled. "I was having a nice dream, here!"
Megan snickered again, but Kara was frowning, and still listening intently. "SHHH!" She demanded, holding up her finger. "Listen."
Keelah obeyed, then her jaw dropped open when she, too, heard the steady thump...thump...thump from somewhere else in the house. This went on for a few seconds, then it stopped completely.
"Hey, it stop-" Keelah started.
"No wait..." Kara interupted.
Suddenly they heard little, scratchy, rustly noises that seemed to be coming towards them. They started to gasp as the noises sounded like they were all over the room. They continued to remain completely still and silent as the sounds came closer... and closer... and closer... and sudenly.... KEELAH'S BROTHER MICHAEL OPENED THE DOOR!!!!
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" All three girls screamed in surprise, causing Michael to scream as well. "Hey! Hey shut up!" He yelled, trying to get the flustered girls to quiet down. "Shh! Mom's pissed off because she says you're making too much noise. She sent me over to tell you guys to shut the F*** up."
They slowly calmed down, gulping for air after their sudden fright.
"You scared us to DEATH you Bastard!" Keelah exclaimed, gasping.
"Good, maybe that will get you to shut the Hell up next time. Now go to bed!" With that, Michael turned and left the room, pulling the door shut behind him.
The girls, still in a flurry from the scare, sat silently for several moments, so as to regain themselves. They then exchanged worried looks and lied down in an attempt to get some sleep.
However, they only managed to accomplish a minimal amount of rest, which was regretfully but a few hours.
Kara and Megan woke up the next morning at 8:30 AM, then shoved Keelah around for 10 minutes until she woke up as well. They had to drag the blonde teenager out of bed while she screamed "LET GO OF ME YOU BITCHES OR I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU!!"
"Come on Keelah." Megan wailed. "We have to find out why your pet rabbit murdered the plumber."
"But I seek warmth!" Keelah cried, holding on to her down comforter with both hands. Kara grabbed one of Keelah's legs, and Megan took hold of the other, and together they pulled Keelah off the bed roughly and onto the floor. She dragged the comforter with her as the other two girls pulled Keelah out of the room and towards the stairs which led to the main floor of the blonde teenager's house.
Keelah finally gave up, and went along with her friends, rubbing sleep from her weary eyes. They trudged downstairs and into the kitchen where Keelah's mother was making pancakes.
"Morning children!" she greeted cheerily. "Sleep well? I didn't!" Her smile suddenly turned sour.
"Heh heh..." Keelah laughed nervously.
Kara nudged Keelah in the arm and whispered, "The BUNNY!"
"Oh yeah, come on..." Keelah ushered her friends towards the stairs, avoiding her mother's accusing glares the whole time.
They made their way downstairs, Keelah in the lead, followed by Megan, then Kara, in the same order as last time. They almost didn't even want to see the rabbit, so they conveniently averted their eyes in other directions.
Keelah was the first one to look towards the cage. She stopped suddenly, causing Megan to run into her, and Kara to collide with Megan.
"Hey, what's up with-" Kara started, but stopped talking immediately when she looked up to see a mangled mess of broken chain link all over the basement floor. The rabbit's cage was torn to bits and Cornflakes was no where in sight.

CHAPTER 4

"God DAMMIT!" Keelah wailed, stomping her feet on the ground in frustration. "This can't be happening!!"
Megan turned around. It was then that she noticed the gaping hole in Keelah's back door, at the top of the stairs. "Umm, guys?" she asked, trying to get Kara and Keelah's attentions.
"What?" Keelah snapped turning around. "Bloody f***!!" she exclaimed, upon noticing the gaping hole in the door. "My mom's gonna KILL me!" She turned to Megan and Kara. "Do y'think she'll notice?" she asked them eagerly.
"No, Keelah. She'll be totally oblivious," Kara told her blonde friend, "But I think our bigger problem at the moment would be the fact that your homicidal rabbit is MISSING!!"
"Right..." Keelah said to the others. "All right, let's go look for him." She dashed up the stairs, followed by Kara and Megan and was just about to open the door when Kara tapped her on the shoulder.
"Umm... ahem, Keelah?"
"Yes K-Bear?" Keelah replied, using a nickname she had for the short haired brunette.
"Don't you think you shold put on some pants first?"
Keelah looked down to see that she still had her long pajama shirt on and no pants underneath since it was too hot during the summer. "That sound like a smashing good idea!" Keelah said, "I'll go do that now."
After the three girls had dressed, they headed for the back door to Keelah's house, trying not to attract any unwanted attantion from her family. It didn't work.
"And just WHERE do you think YOU'RE going at 8:45 in the morning Keelah, dear?" her mother snapped upon noticing their not too inconspicuous attempt at an exit.
"Umm... out?"
"Out where?"
"West?"
"Not so fast! Keelah, I-" her mother stopped talking as she, just then observed the broad void in her door. "KEELAH!" she gasped. "Not again!"
"I didn't DO it!" Keelah whined, just as she had the day before.
"Keelah, I can't stand your evil odings anymore..."
"Evil doings?!" Keelah repeated in disbelief as her mother continued talking.
"I mean, first the plumber, now you've wrecked my door!"
"But I didn't DO it!" Keelah pleaded.
"It's just.... I, I, I don't KNOW you anymore!" her mother cried, running from the room
Keelah turned and glared at Megan. "'Just don't TELL her,' she says. 'Maybe she won't NOTICE' she says!!" Keelah mocked.
"Oops..." Megan said nervously, averting her eyes away from Keelah's face.
"Come on Keelah, get over it. We have to go find your rabbit before he kills again." Kara unterupted her friends' argument.
"FINE!" Keelah answered reluctantly. "But you had BETTER watch your back MEGAN!"
The three teens ran out the door, Keelah still scowling at the timid Megan form behind.

Nearly an hour later, the girls were trudging down Main Street, with no trace of the rabbit so far.
"Where would a rabbit GO anyway?" asked Megan.
"I don't KNOW." sneered Keelah. "Where would YOU go if YOU were a maniacal, homicidal rodent?"
"Well I'd be searching for more victims." Megan suggested.
"Strange that you know so much about this topic, MEGAN." bit in Keelah.
"Oh shut the HELL up you Losers." Kara yelled, then she thought about Megan's suggestion. "More victims, eh? Hmm... well that narrows it down to about 500 MILLION PLACES!!!" she yelled in Megan's face.
"Sheesh..." Megan replied, turning away disgruntledly.
"Let's go to Red Oaks Park." Keelah suggested.
"Why would a rabbit go to a deserted park like that one?" Kara asked. "There's barely ever any people there."
"I don't know, but there's a really cool spider jungle gym there!"
Both Kara and Megan sighed.
"ARGH! Will you PLEASE shut the HELL up about the goddamned playground equipment?!!!" Kara screamed, beyond frustration.
"Well, I guess if I was a really smart rabbit, I'd go to Downtown Royal Oak. You could get all sorts of "food" there." Megan said.
"Are there subs?"
"SHUT UP KEELAH!!!" yelled both Megan and Kara simultaneously.
"FINE! If you don't appreciate me, I'll just be quiet." Keelah replied in a hurt tone, folding her arms indignantly.
Kara moved over to Megan and whispered "Thank God!"

In Downtown Royal Oak, the teenage trio went through all the shops, asking every citizen they saw if they'd seen any decapitated bodies lately. However, everyone they encountered just ignored them and ran away, afraid.
Soon, they ran into Mrs. McGann, their homeroom teacher, in the store called Giggles. Upon asking her the same question, she replied, "Yes, back in the 1700's, when I was young, I saw Anne Bolene beheaded."
"Umm, that's... nice, really..." Keelah said. "But we're talking... recently."
"Oh, you mean like that one over there?" she asked, pointing to the dead clerk.
"Well... yeah. I guess that would work." Keelah replied, inspecting the headless body from afar.
"Did you see who killed him?" Megan questioned.
"Killed who?" Mrs. McGann asked in reply.
"Oooo-Kay, THIS resource is now rendered USELESS." Megan announced to her two friends.
"Oh come on Megan." Kara sighed. "Who do you THINK killed him? The SNUGGLES bear? DUH!! It's obvious the rabbit's been here."
"All right Mrs. McGann. Right now, I honestly suggest you go home, lock all your doors and windows, and keep an eye out for suspicious looking rabbits, ok?" Keelah advised.
"All-righty then! Buh-bye girls! Have a nice day!" the teacher responded as she left the empty store.
Kara walked over to the counter slowly, not wanting to get too close to the deceased employee. She picked up a sparkly pink pencil on the counter and, making sure she kept her distance, she poked the clerk's head with the top. It rolled off the counter and landed on the hard floor with a 'thud.'
"Ew, ew, ew..." the brunette whimpered, backing away quickly.
"It's hollow!" Megan announced upon inspecting the head from behind the counter.
"There's no brain or guts?" Keelah asked with interest.
"No Keelah, I was bullshitting you!" Megan snapped sarcastically, emitting a sour look from the blonde girl. "Maybe that's what Cornflakes is after." she suggested. "The brains. Keelah, did you notice if the plumber's brain was missing?"
"Why, yes." mocked Keelah. "And I wrote it all down here on my middle finger, SEE?!"
Kara grinned at Megan's expense, but as soon as Keelah turned around, she flicked her off as well.
"Heh heh heh..." Megan snickered quietly.
"Come on guys, we gotta get out of here and continue our search." said Keelah.
"And what do you propose we do with this DEAD MAN on the FLOOR?!!" yelled Kara.
Keelah stared at the body for several moments, shrugged and said simply, "Meh."

~*~*~ Meh - TRANSLATION - The act or process of not giving a damn. ~*~*~

Fuming, Kara turned to the brunette with glasses. "Megan, will you help me hide the body?"
"It's always me, isn't it?"
"SHUT UP and help me!" Kara yelled.
Luckily, there was a HUGE basket of toys which Kara put the body and head in, with Megan's help. When they were finished "stacking" the purple dinosaurs on top off the body, they stood back, admiring their sloppy work. Megan was brushing her hands off on her pantlegs when something occurred to her. "Kara?"
"Yes Megan?"
"What about fingerprints?"
Kara pursed her lips, contemplating this issue. She hadn't had time to say one word before Keelah, the "lookout" hissed, "There's two people coming! Quick!"
Keelah, Kara and Megan raced out of the store just in time to see a mother and her five year old son walk in. All three giggled nervously as they heard the young boy squeal, "Look Mommy! I want a Barney!" OUt on the street, all three of them heard a scream from inside the shop, then ran.

"That was way too close!" said Kara, breathing heavily once they had gotten a safe distance from Giggles.
"Stop breathing!" Keelah ordered suddenly.
"Now don't you think you're asking a bit much?" joked Kara.
"Shut up, I hear something!"
Indeed, there was a soft twitching noise from somewhere nearby.
"I hear it too." Megan announced.
"Where are we?" Kara asked.
"Oh crap!" gasped Keelah, ignoring her friends.
"What, did you leave the cokes at Giggles? Damn it Keelah, you and Kara are always forgetting things!"
"Shut up Megan! It's a lot worse than that."
"Worse than dehydration?"
"Shh! It's worse than that! We're in a dead end!"
"Oh no." groaned Kara. "Ten bucks says that twitching noise isn't Keelah's sanity trying to escape again."
"You're on!" joked Megan.
"SHUT UP YOU GUYS!!"
Kara suddenly screamed as the padding of tiny feet came closer and closer to emerge from behind a line of shrubbery in the form of a light brown rabbit.
Kara and Keelah backed up cowardly, shoving Megan forward. She rushed back behind her friends immediately, and said angrily, "I wouldn't wanna be in a war with YOU two!" She roughly grabbed Keelah and shoved her forth claiming, "It's YOUR rabbit!"
Keelah stumbled, almost tripping. "Uhh, nice rabbity rabbit!" she stuttered.
Cornflakes edged closer, his blood-covered whiskers twitching in anticipation. Suddenly he sat down and started licking his paws, a portrait of innocence.
Keelah caved in at his precious expression. "Awww..." she replied, leaning on a wooden plank which was leaning up against a garbage can.
Without warning, the rabbit lunged through the air at Keelah's throat.
"NOOOOOOO!!!!" she screamed, grabbing the plank and hitting Cornflakes, with deadly accuracy, square on the side, making him soar through the air, away from the three girls.
"FOUL BALL!!" Kara yelled.
The ill-fated rabbit hit the ground and rolled about 6 feet. Then, picking himself up and shaking it off, he ran away.
"You know," said Kara. "I could call the animal cruelty people on you."
"I could call them on you too!" Keelah shot back. "Because your face is KILLING me!"
"Quit bitching you guys, we have to go find Cornflakes."
They ran out of the dead end and onto a busy street. Cornflakes was across the street, feasting on yet another victim. Strangely, there was no one else on the streets except for Mrs. McGann, who was wandeing aroun aimlessly.
The girls approached her. "Didn't we tell you to go home?" Keelah asked the woman.
"Did you?"
"Umm, yes." Keelah said, raising an eyebrow.
"Okey dokey girls!" she looked around as if confused on where to go, then decided on one direction and strolled off merrily.
"Althzimers?" Megan suggested.
"Oh yeah." Kara answered.
They turned back around to look at Cornflakes, but by then, the rabbit was gone, leaving only the remains of some old guy.
