The Stranger

dedicated to the guy who lived

by Lucy Henson

She gave her life so you could live

The greatest thing she could give

You needed it, so she waited

God wanted it, it was fated

You were ill and needed the bed

She waited – tomorrow instead

Tomorrow came and she was fine

God was simply biding his time

But it happened and something went wrong

Soon she was hearing celestial song

You are alive but she is dead

She didn't mind at all, she said

We don't grudge you life; we're glad you're here today

We just wish our Nanny hadn't left us this way
