I just really wanted to write a poem called Lullaby. I don’t know why. It’s strange, a lot of my recent poems have been sounding more like songs than plain ol verse. Hmm.... maybe I’ll put it to music. Give me your thoughts on the issue- review!
LULLABY
Close your eyes
The world is gone now
Rest your head
Forget all that is real
This is my lullaby for you
Such a beautiful child
You don’t need to stay here
Leave the real world behind
The life of dreams awaits you
I’ll sing you a lullaby
On soft white wings you’ll fly
Fly away on your dreams
After all, that’s where you belong
So close your eyes
My precious baby
Rest your head down
Close your eyes and rest
You don’t need this life anymore
Fly away to your dreams
Soar to where you want to be
I’ll sing you this lullaby
Close your eyes to the life you know
You don’t need to be here
Listen to my lullaby
And fly away to your dreams
Everything’s all right
Leave the real world behind
Fly away to your dreams
I’ll sing this lullaby
And take you there
