Why, why do I keep letting it happen?

I think I know why,

I think deep down I want someone to prove me wrong,

I want someone to surprise me,

But at this rate I will cry an ocean before that happens,

Did you know my eyes get bluer after I cry?

No you wouldn’t would you, you betrayed me.

Did you know I trusted you?

I believed you wouldn’t betray me,

Like everyone else already has.

I trusted you, and you betrayed me.

I can’t blame you, not really,

You weren’t the first, nor will you be the last.

But in the end you’re just like all the others

Just a mask when I look to see who you are.

I thought I had stopped trusting people a while back,

But somehow I always think it will be different.

I know that you won’t even realize your mistake,

I can hide it behind a smile,

But can’t you feel the meaning behind it is gone

Or do you just not care?

Can you see how my eyes are dead?

That simple slip of the mind and my soul is dead.

But in your world nothing has changed.

I’m afraid what will happen to me the next time,

I don’t think I have that much left to hold me.

Maybe some day I’ll meet some one better,

Someone that won’t betray me.

But I know that everyone I meet will betray me,

It is human to betray those who trusted you,

Those who still have a little hope left for you.
