virgin rose

it lay in the field
by the wayside
thinking about
what's inside
it once was a
beautiful rose
serene and perfect
untouched
then the man came
and tore it away
from the earth
which bore it
he gave it to
a woman and
tore her away too
made her imperfect
then left her
she threw the rose
by the wayside
imperfect and
bereft of virginity
