Trapped
© 2003 Black Tangled Heart
Smile a façade she hides behind
Bitter sweetness in the upturn of her mouth
She holds her tongue; she hides the tears
Makeup covering scars that line flesh and soul
She is an angel trapped inside
The encircling vermilion arms of deceit
She runs, blindly, stumbling, yearning
To take flight, to leave the agony behind
As nothing more than a sour memory
She wishes it didn't burn her skin, mar her mind
Destroy her soul
For she is worth more than she could ever see
She must break the chains that hold her heart
Until the acrid blackness dissolves
To reveal the purity inside
To give her freedom
