Prolouge part one.

There are stories of times when our people had no wings. Those stories tell of a time when all of the islands were joined into one. Where you did not need to fly to travel between the islands, you could simply walk. All kinds of animals roamed the islands, even ones that could not fly. But those are only stories, myths, legends... rumours. All rumours. The truth is that we live in a shattered world, a world in turmoil. Floating islands battle each other, we do not know how the islands float, they simply do. Nobody knows what is beneath the lower clouds, nobody has returned from their voyages to find out.It is certain that once, a long time ago, we did not live among the clouds. For why would we have hands and feet if we would not use them as much as our wings? From the birds we have seen that they have no arms, no hands. Only wings. - Phlax the historain.

"Only wings..." The young man sat on the very edge of the island, not caring if he fell off, he could simply flap his wings and fly back up... "Why do birds have only wings, and not arms, like us...?" He watched as birds played in the setting sun, a sun that tinted the sky a beautiful orange color. The sun shone on his bare chest, warming him. "Because the birds were made to fly from the beginning, Aenan." "You always say that, like you do not believe that men were made to fly, Arienne..." He did not even turn around to look at her as she sat down beside him. "That is because we are not. We were made to walk." "If that is true, then why do we have wings?" she could not answer that, so she turned away. "You can“t answer that, can ya?" He asked playfully "No, I--" He pounced on her, and started tickling her (Not like that you sick, perverted freak!), like one would tickle a sister, or a girlfriend. She tickled him back, and they tumbled around playing for a time. Until Aenan noticed that night was falling. "Shit! We have to get back to the village before they come!" He grabbed Ariennes wrist and ran into a panicking flight. "Wai-- Aenan!" "We don't have time, if we don't hurry, they will attack!" Aenan flapped his wings harder and faster than he had in his entire life. Finally he saw the lights of the village in the distance. "There it is! We are going to make it!" "Aenan..." He turned around to se what Arienne wanted. "They are here..." In the distance large wings could be seen, moving up and down at a frightening pace, rapidly approaching. "Let me go Aenan, we can go faster if you let me go!" As Aenan let her go, she was struck in the back. Aenan could only look on in horror as she fell, helpless down towards the forest. "Aenan!" "Arienne!" He dove after her, but he was too late.
