Is It Fair?

Peace -

The sky is clear

The wind is cool

Was it like that when there was war?

Explosions -

Shards of glass scattered on the floor

Blood seeped into the earth

What people feared most had come.

Shootings-

The rattle of guns accompanied by the agonizing yells

Bodies slumped over in unwilling defeat

What did we want to protect and why do we fight?

A war memorial -

The numerous tombstones embedded in the soil

Well-kept and clean, shining elegantly in the sun

Is it fair, does anyone care for how much the unknown soldiers sacrificed?

Tears -

Shed by the women who waited at home

Every nameless soldier would be forgotten over time

Was it worth the fight?

The irony -

People sleep peacefully in the night

To do not worry, they do not fret

But they bicker over the slightest issue, over power, at the expense of thousands of innocent lives?

Peace -

May it be remembered how the brave young men fought for us

Do we deserve what they have done for us?

Let us fulfil their last wishes, what they fought valiantly for.

Is it fair?

Please, let us make it fair.

Do we deserve it?

Let us want to deserve it.

Let the sky remain clear

And the breeze remain cool.

This was intrigued by a class visit to the Kranji War Memorial… and my English teacher's question. I feel too that we are undeserving of the peace we have now - some people are trying to dominate… aha. I shall shut up now.. haven't been touching my ccs fics at all… can't get into the mood… gomen. You could always help me continue. . this took only one page. Cool.

Oppzzzzz. For once I forgot to make it html. And I didn't check. Was in such a hurry to get it up. Oh man, the effect sucks!!
