Just Some Harmless Magic

Chapter 2

A/N: Hello everyone! Thanks to those of you who have read this already! I wrote that first chapter about a year ago, and I found it the other day, the whole thing, and read it, and I want to change the rest. Its not originally done, I have maybe five chapters written, but I'm changing the rest; it sounds too weird. All right, here's chapter two!

I was the first one to talk. "What the hell are you talking about?!" I asked, a bit freaked. He was saying he was my brother. No, no, no, no! That was NOT possible! He was TOO cute!

"Um, never mind…Forget I said anything…"

"No, tell me what the hell you're talking about!"

David sighed, and looked at me. He obviously didn't want to explain it to the whole class, who were all listening. "OK, I'll tell you, but not now!" he mouthed at me, and I understood.

"Fine…" I said lowly, then, to the rest of the class, "GET BACK to WORK!" And the funny thing is, they listened to me.

After Journalism, school was over, and I waited for everyone to file out of the room. I told Katie to leave me there. Katie looked regretful to leave; she knew this would be great gossip.

David smiled at me, but I didn't smile back. I wanted to know what he was talking about, and I wanted to know right then!

He sighed. "Well then, shall we take a walk?"

I gave him a lopsided smile, and agreed. We walked out of the school in silence. When we got about halfway down the street, I stopped and waited for him to start explaining.

David seemed really reluctant to start saying anything, as if he would get in trouble for telling me. "Well?" I asked. I realize I shouldn't have been such a jerk when he was the big popular one and I was the lowly dork, but he had really scared me. I NEEDED to KNOW!

"Well," he started, and just then Bree appeared again.

I blinked, making sure she really was there.

She turned toward David and smiled. "Yeah, you were going to tell her, weren't you?"

David seemed alarmed. "No, no, no! I wouldn't ever!"

Bree smiled evilly. "David, David, David, you should know by now that I…" David winced, expecting the worst, "never listen to rules. You shouldn't have even thought about doing it without me!"

This whole experience was really scaring me. "HOLD EVERYTHING!" I screamed.

The two in front of me stopped talking and both turned to look at me.

"YOU TWO WILL NOW TELL ME EVERYTHING I SHOULD KNOW!"

They both stood for a few more seconds, gaping at me.

"WELL?!"

David looked at Bree. "Will you start?"

Bree sighed, flipping her silvery hair out of her face. "Yeah, sure…I'll explain. Why don't you ask a question?"

"Ok. How come all of this has just started happening? I mean, David, the only thing you've ever said to me before was when I dropped my backpack and it landed on your shoe. You looked at me and said, 'You scuffed my shoe!' and then walked off."

David shrugged. "I don't know, I was forbidden to tell you anything. But with Bree here, she's been telling me they might be coming for us soon. So I figured you should know."

"Wait, I'm curious, who told you all this?" I asked.

David smiled. "My step dad. He told me when I was 12. Bree's been popping up and telling me all about the world of sorcery."

Realization had got the better of me. "You mean all this time you, Bree, you've been a sorceress? There is such thing? Am I a sorceress?"

Bree nodded. "You and David have the rare ability to show magic before you start practicing sorcery. It's because twins are always really powerful in our world. And really rare. Every sorcerer or sorceress has a mark of power somewhere on their body. David's is on his arm, and since you're twins, it'll be the same on you. Would you mind lifting up your right sleeve?"

I did as I was asked and rolled my PE shirt up. Bree walked forward and pressed her hand against my arm. I shrunk back in pain, grabbing my arm. "Ow! It burns!" I rubbed it fiercely. Bree smiled.

"Look at it," she said simply.

I looked down and gasped. My arm now had a black tattoo of sorts on it: a lighting bolt running through a star.

"Wow…it's true…" I said in amazement.

David and Bree giggled. Suddenly, a cell phone rang, making all three of them jump.

"Oh! That'll be Marie!" Bree exclaimed, taking a cell phone out of her pants pocket and turning it on. "Hello? Yeah, we've got her here, why? Are you serious? Really? Oh, alright. Are Ray and Tony coming, too? Ok, I'll meet you there. Bye."

Bree hung up and looked around at them, looking somewhat pleased. "I have just been informed that I was right. I will be taking you both to your real father tonight. From there you will be studying sorcery, as well as learning about a lot of…other things." I was sure I saw Bree's eyes flicker to my locket once again.

"Who are Ray and Tony?" I asked.

Bree smiled a mischievous smile. "Two guys that we're going to have to make you look beautiful for."

I must have looked confused, because Bree said, "We'll be going to the mall now for a new wardrobe and hair style. I'm afraid I can't let you go back to your father looking like that." She indicated my PE clothes and curly hair. "By the time we leave, you will look better than me, and that's an order!"

I looked uncertainly at Bree's beautiful hair and perfect face. I had little doubt that I could not look like her if I tried for a million years. "If you say so, Bree. Let's go."
