The Balmy Air

Laying on that comforting bed of grass

I watch the sun that comes to pass

Red, orange, and purple streak the sky

Just the palette in the air makes me want to fly

As abrupt as death, a ball of gold does peek

Seeming almost at first, quite meek

The rays litter the scene with light

Blinding and white, the sky shines bright

I drink in these strange happenings with all my senses.

Time passes while I drink in the sight

Hours still wait ‘till night

Closing my eyes, I feel that warmth

The heat which radiates as balmy as fire in a hearth

As my imagination drifts

The tropics is where my mind wafts

Dreaming of sandy beaches and water

Unexpectedly, I awake, feeling that warmth going farther

Away from myself forever
