Significant Other, Or Romantic Attachments: Moiraine started to feel more for Tao than just friendship but didn't get the chance to tell him. Religious Choice: Polytheistic Patron God: Anubis - Guardian of the dead Where are they From: A small village called Kotari Fields just north of is where she lived with her mother for 6 years. She was born in Karutery where her mother met Tamm Nataku her father. She does not have a static place to call her home now; she is always on the move.
History: When Moiraine left the village in search of her mother she found life very different in the big cities. People didn't care for each other as much as in a small village such as hers. People stole food and money from others; they fought in the streets for petty reasons and drank until they could no longer stand. Moiraine did get the info she needed though. It was amazing how much a person would spit out when paid or threatened. On her way to the thief's camp Moiraine met the halfling troublemaker Tao and became best friends with him. He was not a teacher but did show her a few things that would come in handy in a bind. Tao promised to help Moiraine rescue her mother and the other village woman as he also thought what was being done could not go unpunished. They reached the camp late one night when the fires were cold and all was silent. Getting into the camp was easy but they knew it would be harder to leave with a group of scared woman with them. Moiraine searched every tent quietly but found no trace of her mother, only sobbing woman and a few sleeping guards. She signaled to the female captives to be quiet and to follow her out. As soon as they were all free there were shouts from men and the sound of metal scraping the ground as they picked up their weapons. Moiraine had only her belt knife and Tao armed with his Katana were no match for the group of stinking and fully armed men, but Tao would not let them surrender and shouted a battle cry before running head long into the sneering male creatures. "Tao No!!" Was all Moiraine could get out before she was dragged away by her mother's best friend Kate. "Moiraine come with us and hide, you will be safer here. " She heard the words but did not want to listen and kept struggling for her freedom. "Please stay here, we don't need to loose you too." She cried. Moiraine looked up at her. "By the gods, please do not tell me my mother is dead." There were tears streaming down Moiraine's face as she saw Kate nod. Moiraine looked back at the massacre that was happening before her. "I must go. I already lost one person I love, I'm not going to loose another!" With that she ran across the clearing and jumped on the back of the nearest thief and slit his throat with her knife. When the battle was over and the men exhausted from the ordeal Moiraine saw the heap that was left of Tao. Falling to her knees Moiraine cried over her friend's body and asked Anubis to take care of her friend, her love. She picked up Tao's sword all covered in blood and held it close. "I will always remember you my friend." She whispered as she rejoined the girls and told them to go back to the village. "But what about you Moiraine?" Kate asked. "I have to go pay a little visit to Daddy dearest." Was all she said before she turned and ran off into the forest on her way to Karutery. She sat in the dim firelight of a tavern in Karutery, the place where her existence began. The sun was just touching the edge of the world splashing colours of red and purple onto the floor and tables through the two windows at the front of the building. Hate and anger boiled in her veins as she thought of why she was sitting in a place that reeked of drunken and dirty humans. The thought of coming face to face with the human that raped her mother then left her like some wild animal that is easily disposed of. Her hands shook as she sharpened her belt knife, the one given to her by her one and only friend Tao who had been killed at the hands of a human thief trying to take what money and supplies they had at the time. Raine was so much in her own thoughts that she barely saw the shadow on the table before her. "So you did show up Father." She said coolly, the word "father" leaving a bad taste in her mouth. "Why would I miss the opportunity to see my one and only daughter?" Tamm replied half-heartedly. The only reason Tamm had shown up was to see if his daughter has inhered the beauty and stupidity from her mother that allowed him to take her so easily. "You lie." She stated as she finally looked up at his dark brown eyes and shaggy mane of thick black hair. He smelled of cheap beer and had sweat on his face. "What makes you think I would lie to a pretty young girl like you?" His words slurred together at times, he may have been drinking but his eyes said he was still able to think clearly and he wanted only one thing. "I know what kind of filth you are father, it's written all over your face." She placed the silver knife back in it's place not wanting to look back up her own blood. "Well how about you enlighten me you little wench." He swore as his patience grew very short at being treated the way he was. "You are the lowest form of life I have ever come across, you treat woman of any species like a toy for you to play with, to satisfy your pleasure. I know you want me just like you took my mother. You probably don't even remember her do you?!" She spat as she tried to control her temper. "Ah, Eve was a prize but I knew I should have silenced her when I had the chance instead of dumping her in the ally. Look at the trouble it's causing me now." He mused out loud as he placed the drink he had on the table. "Loose ends that I should really take care of right now." He pulled out a short sword that he had at his belt and pointed it at her chest. "Don't make me laugh, you are nothing but a rabbit, a poor defenseless little creature that has lost his hole and has no other place to run." Moiraine smiled as she looked down at the blade. "Don't push me because in my state I might just slip and pierce your heart. Just because we are blood does not mean I would not like to see yours spill onto the floor." He put more pressure on the blade. Raine saw that he was serious and was skilled with the weapon in his hand. She might have a chance to reach her belt knife to defend herself, but Moiraine knew it was a high risk. She had to think fast to get out of this situation and thought of a way out by pushing the right buttons. "So you think you are good with that." She gestured to the sword at her chest. "Of course, I have done battle many times with my short sword and have come out victorious." He bragged, which was just what Raine wanted to hear. "I don't think you are as good as you claim to be Rabbit! Care to test your skill against mine?" She had thrown the bait but would he take it. For her sake Moiraine hoped so. Tamm laughed. "I could finish you right here if I wanted to but what is the fun in that. I accept your challenge." "Good." Raine had her game face on and was ready to end this nonsense. She got up, grabbed her bedroll and walked out the door, knowing her father was right on her heels. When they reached a clearing close to the edge of the city it was dusk but still enough light for her to see her opponent. She pulled her sword from its scabbard and moved it skillfully through the air. Tamm also showed off some of his moves before his face turned to stone and he advanced on her. Sparks flew as the two weapons came in contact with each other. The sound of their swords clashing rang out over the clearing as they fought. Tamm got in a clean hit and sliced open Raine's right shoulder. Raine cried out then swore at being so careless. Tamm smiled in triumph as he saw this fight in his favor. "Don't get so cocky yet Rabbit, this fight is far from over!" Raine voiced as she rushed at him. Tamm swung his sword to take off Raine's head but she ducked and rebounded by slicing the under part of Tamms sword hand causing him to drop his weapon. He struggled to reach the sword but Raine was too quick and soon she had him on his knees with her sword at the side of his neck. "Go ahead finish it!" He spat as he looked up at her in contempt. "I should end your pathetic life Rabbit!" She spat. "If I don't you will do to another what you did to my mother." As Raine spoke Tamm ducked his head and lashed out with his right foot causing Raine to stumble backwards. "You dropped you guard too soon daughter." Tamm grinned as he picked up his sword with his left hand, his right still bleeding profusely. "A mistake I am not about to repeat." Her shoulder was a mass of blood but she tried not to think about it even though the pain was enough to make her flinch. They again locked swords in combat, both tired but neither one willing to admit defeat as each of their lives hung in the balance. Tamm swung a couple more time, intent of taking the head of his daughter. Raine blocked as best she could but it was clear that she was running out of energy and strength. "I can't give up, not now." She thought to herself. "I have to do something or I'm as good as dead." She blocked another attack then noticed that when Tamm attacked he left his stomach open for attack. "This is for Mother and Tao!" She yelled in her head as she mustered up t he last of her strength and plunged her sword deep into the navel of her father, her blood. He looked down in surprise as he dropped his sword. It clattered to the ground as he doubled over in pain, pressing the wound to stop the bleeding. Tears were streaming down Moiraine's face. "I have no more mercy for you father. Let your fate be guided in the land of the dead." She said quietly as she raised her sword one last time and did what her father so badly wanted to do to her. Moiraine took his head and stood there as it rolled to her feet. She then picked up her bedroll and walked into the forest, walked towards home. "May the God's show you the errors of your ways and let them show you the mercy I could not." She said to the lifeless body as she disappeared into the shadows of the trees.
