A/N: This is really weird. Yesterday I wrote my dream down (Chapter One) thinking it was the worst thing in the world to have dreamed. I was like, Oh my God, how terrible! I have to change the ending and make it happy! But guess what Last night I fell asleep, and I had more of the dream. It wasn't over yet, I suppose. After a lot more angst, there really is a true happy ending.
I banged my head down on the table. Why did this happen? What was wrong with people these days? Was there nothing more important to do than to kill innocent people?
Holly, sitting next to me, sobbed harder. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying hard to comfort myself, but it wasn't working. What I needed right now was Will. With a painful sob I reminded myself that Will was never going to be there for me anymore, so I was basically screwed.
Mr. Jones came running back in through the same door he had exited through, looking around wildly. Seeing me, he ran over to our table, and stopped in front of me.
"Danielle," he said, trying to catch his breath. "I need your help. I found him, and I tried to catch him, but he got away. He got down, and went through the pizza parlor. I'm not sure if any of the people that were in there are hurt or not; after he ran in I came to get you. I need you and Holly to help me hold him off until the police get here!" (Yes, I know, that doesn't make any sense, but most dreams don't)
I wiped the tears out of my eyes, a look of determination on my face. I knew I had little chance of surviving this, but I didn't care. I would either get revenge on the man that had ruined my life or die trying. Next to me, Holly got up, a similar glint in her eyes. She was pissed as well.
We went with Mr. Jones, down the stretch between the buildings (I still can't figure out what to call that), back down to the pizza parlor. When it came in to view, a shock hit me. What if Jeff and Jamie were dead, too?
As I thought this, I started to run, and Mr. Jones and Holly ran, too. They seemed to be thinking the same thing I was.
We got to the end of the building, where the pizza parlor was (No, there isn't really a pizza parlor there, just in my dream there was. Actually, William Collier was my elementary school, but in my dream it was my current school), and saw that the glass had been broken, and the neon Open sign was swinging back and forth by a wire. I ripped open the door, and threw myself in, to meet a most unwelcome sight.
They were all there, all the people I had been angry and bored with just a short while before, but they were all dead. A sharp pain went through my heart again, as I looked at my cousin, lying on the floor, eyes wide open in fear. There was a bullet through his heart.
A tear ran down my face, and I looked at Jamie. Even though she wasn't my best friend anymore, she still meant something to me, and I didn't want to see her like that. There was a knife sticking through her side, and she wore a look of shock on her face. (Sorry for the gore, just telling you what happened!)
Mr. Jones stepped over their bodies, looking around frantically for some sign of the man. Holly let out a sob again; she seemed too disturbed to do anything else.
I had a new determination set into me, and hatred was all I could feel. I wasn't sad anymore, and I wasn't going to cry. All I wanted to do was kill; kill the man responsible for all of these people's pain.
I got to my feet (I had been kneeling next to Jamie) and stepped over them to Mr. Jones, then bounded over the counter (And the cashier), and ripped open the door to the back room. I hurled myself in, and foolishly slammed the door behind me. This locked it shut, and Holly and Mr. Jones could not get in.
In the huge room that I now found myself trapped in, hundreds upon hundreds of pizza boxes were stacked. There was a huge oven, and that was it, Just pizza boxes and an oven in one corner of the room. I walked around quietly, looking for some sign of movement, and when I got to the other side of the room, near the door leading out, about a dozen pizza boxes fell to the floor, making me whip around in fear.
There was the man right there, trying foolishly to pick up all the pizza boxes he had just knocked over. There was not much light to see by, but by what I could see, the man appeared to be very young.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, making the man stop trying to pick up the boxes, and stand straight up to look at me.
"I, um, am picking up pizza boxes, of course!" said the man idiotically. "You see, I just knocked them over and I–"
"Shut up!" I screamed, and he did. "Do you have any idea how DEAD you are?!"
"Um no What are you talking about?" he asked. I still couldn't see his face.
I rolled my eyes. "What do you mean, what am I talking about?! You KILLED all those people! You killed my best friend, you killed my cousin, and you killed the LOVE of my LIFE! Why?! What the bloody hell were you thinking?!"
"Er " the man said stupidly, and the hatred I felt for him rose. "I don't have any idea what you are talking about "
I was getting really upset, and a bit insane then. I strode quickly back across the room and up to the man, grabbing the front of his shirt and shaking him. "Listen, you!" I screamed, "I–" I stopped.
A ray of moonlight from the window above us came across his face and I saw who it was. (You're not going to believe this )
Elijah Wood was standing there, arms raised, trying to back away from me, while I held onto his shirt and shook him. I stared in dead fright at his face, then dropped him. "You " I said slowly. "You "
He looked really confused now. "Miss, please, tell me what happened. Cause I have been locked in this room for the past month, and I have no idea what is going on. Please, believe me, I didn't kill anyone."
A sudden scream from the front room jolted me back to reality. Elijah looked as well, and we both bolted for the door. I reached it first, and wrenched it open quickly. Mr. Jones was lying on the floor, dead. Holly, however, was lying on the floor, a knife sticking out of her stomach, but she was not dead; yet.
I looked first at Elijah's grief-stricken face, and then out in front of me. Standing there, right in front of Holly, was another man. This one, though, really was the killer.
He was about forty years-old, with a muscular build, and buzzed brown hair, and burning, hatred-filled brown eyes. He looked at Elijah and I, standing in the doorway, and his eyes widened at the sight of me.
"You!" he screamed, the hatred burning even more in his eyes. He bent down to pick up the gun that lay next to Mr. Jones.
Holly, however, got it first. She grabbed it quickly, and pulled the trigger immediately, and the man fell back to the ground. Gasping, she dropped the gun, and her head fell back in shock. She was breathing heavily, but she was still alive.
The man, however, was dead. Next to me, Elijah let out a low whistle. "What the bloody hell?" he asked slowly, looking around the room.
I ran to Holly. "Holly!" I screamed, tears leaking out of my eyes. "Holly, you did it! You killed him! It's OK! You're going to make it!" This was meant to convince me more than it was to convince her.
She slowly shook her head. "No, I'm not going to. But they will. They're not dead, Danielle. Not all of them, anyway. He said so, they're still alive. They're in Room 408 go to them " And with that, she passed out. Still, she did not die. Holly was strong. I knew she would pull through. Well, actually, I hoped she would. I heard sirens outside. The police had finally arrived.
"Oh my God " Elijah said. "Oh my GOD!" With that, he ran back into the back room and slammed the door, locking me out.
"Idiot," I thought. "Thanks a lot." I looked down at Holly, trying hard not to cry, and ran out the door.
There were at least twenty cop cars right outside in the driveway, and ambulances were pulling in as well. I ran to the nearest ambulance and told the driver to go straight in to Holly, and send everyone else to Room 408, where some would surely need their help. Thankfully, the driver listened to me, and I turned and ran.
I ran as fast as I could down between the buildings again, and turned to the right at the end of them, then ran a short distance till I came to the double doors leading in to the 400 classrooms. I wrenched them open, and ran inside, and froze.
The floor was drenched with blood (Hehe, I almost wrote the blood was drenched with floor sorry), and a few bodies were scattered throughout the hallway.
I walked quickly down the hall, stepping over a few people, but none that I recognized, except for John. John had been my boyfriend for a while, and I had just broken up with him. My heart stopped again that night when I saw his crestfallen face, and tears sprang to my eyes, however I kept going. It had strengthened me not to find Will or Katie yet.
Still going, I came across my friend, Daisy's body. I looked at her for a moment, and then continued.
I finally came to Room 408, and quickly turned the handle. It was locked. On the other side of the door I could hear voices. I listened closely for a second, and I found that it was Katie's voice that I heard. "Katie!" I screamed, and the voice stopped. "Katie, it's me, Danielle, hurry up! Come here! Open the door!"
I heard mild shuffling, and then there was Katie's face in the small window on the door. Tears leaked out of my eyes at the sight; I hadn't been expecting to see her alive and well ever again.
"I can't, Danielle, it's locked! Try again!" she said, and behind her I saw Will for just a split second.
This time, I tried really hard, and I DID wrench that door open, right off it's hinges, that is. But it didn't seem to phase me. I ran right into the room to find Katie, Will, and Kelly in there, and they all looked really beat up.
I started crying really hard because I was so happy that they were all alive, and Katie and Will did the same. I hugged them both, really hard, and they hugged me back.
"We thought you were dead!" Will sobbed into my shoulder.
"It was so terrible!" Katie sobbed as well.
"You have no idea how bad it was for me!" I said, hugging them even harder. "Holly told me you were dead and I just felt like dying!"
I pulled back to look at them. They were both crying like me, and Kelly behind them was crying as well. She ran up and hugged me tight, as well, and we all fell to the floor in tears.
"What happened?" I asked of them.
Katie and Will looked at each other for a moment, then down to the floor.
"The lights went out, and Holly grabbed on to me. I heard a bang, and something hit me in the leg," Will said, and showed me his leg, where a bullet had punctured the calf. "I fell to the floor and passed out in pain."
"Then Holly grabbed me," Katie said slowly, and lifted her shirt slightly. "The bullet barely grazed my side, but I passed out anyway, in fright, I guess."
"I didn't get hurt," Kelly said, "That is, until Holly stepped on my toe when she ran out. Katie had dragged me down to the ground when she fell."
"I guess we were all dragged in here by the dude, I don't know who he was, but when I woke up, he told us to shut up and stay put, that he had some unfinished business to handle with "your little girlfriend"," Will said, a scowl on his face. "Who was that man, Danielle?"
I gaped at him. Honestly, I had no clue. "I don't know."
Katie looked distraught. "Never mind that, where is he? Is he going to come back?"
I shook my head. "He's dead. Holly shot him."
Their mouths dropped.
"I'll explain later," I said, and got up to my feet. "But now we have to go see if everyone's all right." Then, I realized someone was missing. "Where's Ryan?" I asked, looking all around me.
Will laughed. "Oh yeah, Ryan " he said stupidly, and Katie and Kelly laughed, too. Will went over to the broom closet in the classroom and opened the door. Immediately, Ryan fell out.
I raised a brow as he got up and laughed. "Sorry, Danielle, I just went in there cause Kelly wouldn't shut up "
The three others laughed. "Yeah right, Ryan " Katie said, making them laugh harder.
I wondered at it for a second, then blew it off, and went back to the door. "You guys, this isn't exactly the time to be laughing " I said slowly, opening the door so they could see out.
Their mouths dropped open as the sight came in to view. I looked sadly at them, and the horrible faces they were making. It was such a shame they had to see this, but I had had to, as well, and even though I was just 13, I felt like an adult then, to have witnessed something so terrible.
We walked out the door and right into Daisy's body. Katie gasped, and Kelly laughed. I raised a brow at her, and she shut up. Then we found John. This had quite a different affect.
Ryan froze in place (John was his best friend) and then grabbed hard onto Kelly's shoulder, making her cry out in pain. Kelly was shocked as well, and Will and Katie kept exchanging worried glances.
"Let's keep going. We need to see if Holly's all right," I said, and Ryan gasped.
"Holly? Is she alright? Where is she?!" and with that he took off running. The rest of us followed him quickly.
But instead of running to the pizza parlor, we were stopped by the ambulance driver I had spoken to earlier.
"Is anyone hurt?" he asked, a gurney by his side.
"Yes, but there's no time for that right now! We have to find my girlfriend!" Ryan said, pushing past the guy and running the rest of the way to the pizza parlor.
Katie spoke up, "Did you find a girl in the pizza place?"
The man nodded. "She's being tended to right now. She's gonna be OK, but she lost a lot of blood. Now, which one of you are hurt?"
Katie showed the man her side, and Will showed him his leg. The man made Will sit on the gurney, while the rest of us followed behind him to get to the ambulance.
A/N: Yeah, well, this is the real sucky part. It ends here. Well, I'm actually happy that it stopped there. Stupid dreams, you know these two are going to scare me for the rest of my life just like that one with the government dudes and those black dobermans with the red and blue glowing eyes *shudders violently* Never mind I am going to go now.
