1/31/03 This is something I created when I was thinking about how many layers someone can have. And then of course I started thinking of the layers that I wear and this is what I came up with. So tell me what you think, haven't written a lot of description in awhile so I hope I'm not too rusty ^^ Notes are at the bottom, it's for whoever didn't really understand the 'realms' or would like to know a bit more in detail.

The Owner of the Realms

A tiny burning flame can be seen off in the distance. The blood red candle stick stubbornly refusing to melt. The flame stands strong, but flickers dangerously. The flame is not the usual colour of amber, instead it is a translucent blue. The hottest colour of an ordinary flame. The candle hovers in mid air, always steady, never tilting.

A small distance separates the burning candle and the ice. Strangely enough, the ice does not melt. The ice barrier sometimes looks to be at least fifty inches thick. While other times it is only a mere two inches. The surface is smooth and glitters with pretty snow crystals.

The burning candle is safe within this cage, but outside the icy barrier there goes a tremendous snow squall. An unseen wind blows the snow furiously, the snow pelts against the ice cage but does not affect it in the slightest. The white squall seems to flicker on and off. Sometimes it dwindles away to let beautiful snow flakes glitter down to an unseen ground. While other times the storm picks up so fiercely that even the person on the outside experiences goosebumps on their flesh, no matter how hot it may be.

Beyond that flickering storm lies a dark fog. The darkness is so thick that not even an animal of the sharpest eyesight could see through it. The fog hovers above an invisible ground, creating a haunting effect.

And yet there is still another layer. This one made of beautiful wild flowers in a small meadow. This is where the smiles come from. This is where the laughter comes from. The fog does not touch this area, but yet it still looks haunting in a way. There is something about the flowers that are not of this world. They are odd colours, too dark for normal flowers. The grass is thin and a dark jade. This tiny place looks fake. It does not look as realistic as the tiny flame in the ice prison. Things produced from this meadow are false. Actions taking from this place are a cover for the deeper realms. The untouched realms. Many footprints, big and small, can be seen marking the grass. Footprints mar some of the flowers, their wilted forms even more pitiful then the needle thin grass. Beyond this meadow their is nothing but the outside world. Which in reality is everything.

The tiny burning candle can not feel anything involving the outside world. The ice cage will not allow it. It's walls are too solid and cold for even the loudest of sounds and biggest of pleasures to be felt. When an embrace is given, their arms are lost in the fog. When a person is gazing into the eyes of the owner of the realms they will not always see the darkness there, the meadow hides it. Those who are unkind to the owner will see the ice. And they will not touch it. Those who do, are burned by it's crippling touch. And no one sees the tiny candle. No one knows of that tiny burning flame that lurks beneath all those layers. All those made up realms. Not even the owner of this barren land can completely see the flame, it hides from her. And until another sees this tiny burning candle, the flames can all but lick at the ice that encloses it. Not getting any oxygen, yet still managing to hold on to that tiny thread of life. As if this fragile burning candle has hope that someone will come, someone will finally see through all the realms of it's owner.

Notes: The Meadow: Holds the fake smiles and laughter that are given to the world. Sometimes they are real, but the place is so destroyed that it is not always true -footprints: represents the people who trample and disturb the owner. Who mar the grass and flowers due to their brutality. -thin grass: represents the aging process of the inner realm, and the extra hard punishment it receives for being the first among the layers. -wilted flowers: representing the laughter and smiles that are almost always forced due to their trampled state. Due to the people who trample on them without care to their beauty.

The Fog: The darkness that hides what lies beyond it. -arms are lost in the fog: meaning the embrace penetrates and can be felt, but the sensation is soon lost -so thick not even an animal of the sharpest eyesight can see through it: meaning that most people are too blind to look around them. So they do not always see the troubles of others, instead focusing on themselves.

The Snow Squall: It's kind of like the frozen passion. -the fierce storm: When strong emotions manage to penetrate the fog and the meadow. Anger and sadness is usually what sets it off. -beautiful snow flakes: Few times can these be seen since these glittering snow flakes only appear during moments of peace. Moments by oneself where nothing else matters and there is no time to think of the outside world.

The Ice: A barrier that hides and protects the candle within it. -fifty inches thick: This icy cage is so thick and strong that nothing can brake or melt it. Nothing can get through to it. -mere two inches thick: The candle within still doesn't melt this barrier, but when the ice barrier is this thin it means that emotions can be felt easier, sharper and stronger. It's kind of like the saying, 'she holds her heart on her sleeve'. When this measly barrier is placed to protect the flame it means that the world outside can hurt the owner. The fifty inch thick ice barrier is harder to hold up since it is so thick and strong, so this two inch one is usually in place. Though it holds up sturdy, it is a little to weak for the painful and sad things that happen outside the realms.

The Candle: The one realm that feels all the passion. This is the realm of passion, of feeling. -blood red colour: The wounds caused from the outside world inflicted by the owner has turned the colour of the wax a deep red. It used to be a jet black but soon changed about two years ago, when things from the outside world kept piling up. In time when everything is at peace the candle will be a virgin white. -refusing to melt: Showing how stubborn the owner can really be -blue flame: The hottest part of a flame is not the red part that everyone thinks, it's actually the blue part. This would mean that the owner of the blue frame is very passionate and feels things strongly compared to some people. -flickering: This occurs when the little hope that the owner has left dies off for awhile. It still stays sturdy due to the tiny bit of hope that will always burn inside the owner until something so dreadful happens that it flickers so much that the candle snuffs out.
