Collection of Poems

The Bat and Me

I once met a bat,

Who spoke like a cat,

And smelt like a smelly old rat.

He buzzed like a bee,

Had a hairy knee,

And lived in a very tall tree.

He stopped to say,

Have a nice day,

And then he flew far away.

That was the last I saw him,

Except once in my bin,

Where he caused one hell of a din.

Body

The policeman said,

With a turn of his head,

That the man he must be dead.

Whilst lying in bed,

He’d been shot in the shot,

And his body was pumped full of lead.

Black and White

Black and white, black and white,

Are the colours of my cat,

Black and white, black and white,

Are the colours of a Zebra’s back.

Black and white, black and white,

Are the colours of dark and light,

Black and white, black and white,

Are the colours of the sky at night.

Black and white, black and white,

It’s a pity the world isn’t black and white.

Looking for God

Have you looked here?

Have you looked there?

Have you looked everywhere?

Have you looked high?

Have you looked low?

And you still don’t know?

Well if you dead then you could see,

If God is all he’s cracked up to be.

Eulogy

You made me laugh, you made me cry,

You told the truth, you told a lie,

You made me happy, you made me sad,

You were good and you were bad,

You were a son, you were a dad,

You were sane and you were mad,

You were single and you were wed,

You were living, now you’re dead.

Weary Traveller

Rest weary traveller,

For you have travelled far,

Rest weary traveller,

For you have much to go,

The Promised Land is far away,

And this Promised Land you must reach,

For if only one thing,

The ice cream will not keep.
