There are only fifteen (recognised) races in the known universe to date. Here is a comprehensive list..
Human:
They own have populated seven planets, including Mars, and now own one hundred and twenty two (known about) space stations. They're (according to them) "average" height, "skin" coloured pigmentation, walk upright on two feet with two arms, are oxygen breathing organic life forms and are the second most powerful species to date. They also have a wide range of variation amongst their species despite occupying only a small region of space and being on of the last to achieve hyperspace capabilities. Alternatively they possess a unique ability for survival and creative thought.. When they put their mind to it.
Kaat:
They're big. They're powerful. They're hairy. They're scary. They love to fight. And that's probably all you really need to know about them.
If you must. They are similar in appearance to humans, though their internal organs are extremely different. Apart from the excess hair, they have broad shoulders, a square jaw, larger ears located closer to the tops of their skulls. They also possess a line of thorny protrusions from the base of their neck down their back and along their arms. To top it all off they are nearly twice the size of a human.
Kaat space is protected with a fierce line of united battleships from the thirteen of the fourteen other races. Kaat's are well known for their love of war and are not on "trust" terms with a single other race. Their technology is mostly raw although their range of weaponry is diverse.
Dbren:
The only recognised "intelligent" race that has no sex of the species. Their reproduction is therefore asexual. They are tall and lean with bald heads and a slightly orangy skin colour pigment only noticed when compared with human skin. They have round ears flat against the sides of their skull. Vaguely representative of ancient Earth pictures drawn of supposed abductees.
The Dbren, possessing fewer hormones than most species, are usually quite rational in thought. Their technology is quite colourless, mostly because their vision is only a mixture of black, white and grays. Their eyes are bulging, almost insect like.
Raforman:
Raforman are generally quite timid creates and have been compared to the Earthern squid (but the humans do have the odd need to compare all species to creatures on their own planet). They are usually green or white in colour and move about on a series of long tendrils protruding from their lower body. Whilst their tendrils are soft, and easily maimed, their body is surprisingly hard in protection of itself. Raforman also possess a uniquely adaptive respiratory system and have populated the most worlds as a result. They are also able to endure aquatic environments for a short period of time.
Lumina:
Frog like creatures, Lumina are one of the shortest races known. Their eyes are bulging like the Dbren but they are stocky creatures. Having lived in aquatic environments on their homeworlds, Dbren that live off world must have two tubes providing liquid with the appropriate combination of elements at all times through the gill slits on their necks. Lumina are hard working and hard wearing but generally prefer not to take jobs well amongst the public eye.
Trez:
They are green blobs. That's the extent of their physical structure. They quiver like jelly and give each other names in numbers rather than letters. Before they met the rest of the universe, they communicated in numbers too. Trez, to communicate with other species, must actually carry around a verbal attachment that taps into their vibrations and speaks for them.
Trez are supposedly the most intelligent beings known. Their main reason for being often being misunderstood can be attributed to this.
Geykeng:
Geykeng are slightly shorter than humans with bright purple eyes, a greenish tinge to their skin and startling empathic and/or telepathic abilities, though only about a third of the population have this ability. Their hair is usually long and extends from their shoulders as well as the skull. Their features are finer than humans' and their ears are stalk protrusions near the top of the head. Geykeng own the largest region of space and considered the most "powerful" because of this and in that they encourage good relations with most species and have access to the most recent technology. The Geykeng have two hundred and forty-nine space stations and seventeen planets over twenty six systems. They are friendly, often have a "different" sense of humour and share a great deal of their space and time alongside humans.
Ranthites:
They are eternally grumpy. They are eternally paranoid. They are eternally depressed. They are forced to live in environmental suits outside their own environment. Environment suits depress them even more (if its possible). You very rarely see one outside its own environment.
V:
Whether or not they are intelligent life forms is often in debate. Not because they aren't intelligent, they're extremely intelligent, but the debate is whether or not they are life forms. V are metallic in origin and are basically small round orbs. Because of the controversy over their state, they prefer to live amongst themselves.
How they replicate remains a mystery to date.
The 15nth race:
The hide in gray environmental suits (voted race with least fashion sense of the year). They came out of nowhere and challenged the view of the Kaat's being the most blood-thirsty species. Kaat's only like to war more than beer and sex. They say the 15nth race likes war because they don't get beer and sex.
If you see one, pity it briefly.
Then blow it to bits.
The other five races are currently unavailable for reading. i.e. I'm leaving them open for later development at which time they will be added to the list.
When there are fifteen, you must remember that the fifteen are only recognised intelligent beings by the government of Earth and its colonies. This is why they Urmay are absent from the list - they are not recognised as intelligent beings. Most human scientists believe their behaviour is simply learned and copied, that they have no unique thought. Several other races challenge that theory and have Urmay's listed as intelligent on their own species lists.
