You came to us over windswept plains.
Hooves thundering,
Tails cracking in a blaze of lightening.
You were a gift,
A heavy burden was lightened.
We could move faster,
For food, for scouting.
From your backs we learned to fly,
Learned to soar like the mighty eagle.
We hunted the bison in numbers.
We traveled far.
You took us places high and low,
Asking not much in return,
But food and shelter.
We honor you, the horse.
