affliction causing me to dissolve

A shell emptied, a song silenced, a wing broken

A love lost

I wish the pieces hadn't crumbled before my eyes

Leaving me helpless, with nothing to cling to

Burden on my back; emptiness in my heart

With only tears and regret to remind me of the pulse beneath my wrist

And the darkness that will capture me in poisonous encircling arms
