Chapter One

            Aaliyah was sitting in her den watching the blond perky news anchor on the 11 o’clock news.

            “And tonight‘s breaking news there has been an awful slaying in Greensbow, Indiana, police officials say around 3:00 a.m. this morning. This, unfortunately, hasn‘t been uncommon lately. This type of mutilation has been found in five different states for the past two weeks. Police officials suspect gang situation…”

            “Humans are so dumb,” Aaliyah got out of her chair and turned the battery run television off.

            Aaliyah walked out of the den and into the pitch black woods to seek her father. Who, not to her surprise, was talking to the new pack leader, Jayden.

            “Daddy, I need to talk to you,” Aaliyah said to her father.

            “Go away Aaliyah, your father is working,” Jayden commanded in his deep voice.

            “I‘m pretty sure I wasn‘t talking to you,” she said in a cold voice, “daddy I wanna call mother and Odin. I haven‘t talked to them in months!”

            “No friggin way, Aaliyah. You know the risks of being tracked,” Jayden interrupted before her father could even open his mouth.

            “Come on, who‘s going to track us down? No one even knows we‘re here.” Aaliyah was the only one in the pack who would stand up to Jayden. Probably because both of them are the youngest members of the pack.

            “Aaliyah,” her soft-spoken dad finally spoke up. “You know he‘s right. You never know who knows what.”

            “Oh my God! I hate my life!” Aaliyah ran away from them.

            “Be back at my den in half an hour! We wouldn’t want ya to miss anything!” Jayden’s amused voice carried out through the woods.
