Ashley Portman stood at her locker dressed in a pink sundress and matching pink shoes. She had dirty blond hair and blue eyes. Her friends, Jenna, Kali, and Trish, surrounded her as she rifled through her locker. “You are not going to believe who’s taking me to the dance, Ashley.” Jenna spoke, her voice filled with glee. “Who?” Ashley asked without looking up. “Todd Robertson!” Jenna nearly screamed. “Oh wow. He’s so hot. I can’t believe you’re going to the dance with him!” Ashley replied. “You’re so lucky, Jenna!” Kali spoke.
“Oh, my god.” Jenna laughed. “What?” Ashley asked, turning to face her after shutting her locker. “Hey, Ashley.” A low voice spoke from behind her. Ashley turned to see Gavin Harper in front of her. He was dressed in black UFO pants and a plain black t-shirt. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes. Ashley felt as though her heart stopped.
Quickly composing herself, she asked, “What do you want?” “I, um, was wondering if you wanted to go to the dance with me.” Gavin replied while biting his lip. Ashley’s three friends began to laugh uncontrollably. Gavin glared at them. “I’m going with someone else.” Ashley spoke. “Who?” Gavin asked. “Anyone but you.” Ashley replied, with a forced laugh. The smile quickly left her face when he turned around and punched the locker next to hers and stormed off.
“That was so funny. I can’t believe that loser would even ask you! Ha!” Jenna laughed. “I know. What a loser.” Ashley spoke quietly, watching as he walked down the hallway.
