The Journal

Feburary 18th

My doctor says I have a lot of stress. I wonder why he thinks that. It there some kind of test that you can take to measure stress? Anyway, after, he told me I needed to relax a little, and he gave me a few options; play an instrument, take up some arts, write a little, you get the picture. He dosen't think my car racing is thereputic. Now, I don't know how to play any instruments, I'm about as artistic as a brick, and I can't write fiction for crap. So I took up a journal.

Which I find to be personally odd for myself. I mean, why me? Of all people, why should I write a journal? I told him this too-he said it's a good way to vent out my fustrations on it. Then he gave me a list of things I should put on the first entry, and put a new entry at least once a week. Yea, whatever. On the way home I picked up this journal. It's brown and has one of those straps on it that keeps it shut. Why am I writing this? I mean, if you read the journal you would already know what it looks like.

Lets see that list now...

"Who are you?"
I am Brian Li, a student at Pasadena High. I'm a junior, at age 17, and I'm a 5'9 black haired kid.

"What do you like to do?"
Race cars, mostly. Screw that drag strip stuff though, no skill involved. If you wanna race me we do it on a track or a nice, twisty road like the one in Glendale, Chevy Chase Canyon. Why I haven't been arrested yet is beyond me. I also drive an old Nissan 240SX, a 90' model. The catch is the engine is changed to this wicked fast Japanese engine. But I'm not a rice boy, I like all types of cars, be it a 70' Chevy Chevelle SS, a 99' BMW M3, or a 92' Nissan Skyline R-32. I play the occasional video game, but I'm not a geek.

"Describe your place in society."
What place? Well, I think I'm popular enough. People know who I am, and I know some of them. Lets leave it at that.

"Who are your friends?"
I have a few. There's Joe, who dosen't like cars at all. But he's pretty cool to hang out with. Tu does like cars, but not so much the racing. He's a wizard with a wrench though, and he always hels me out with repairs. There's Lisa, who lives in Glendale. She just moved here from Japan a while back. She's a scary tough chick. I heard she also knows a Brian in Glendale that likes cars. Paul is a good friend, I've known him since kindergarden. I think we all have one of those friends. Then there's Jessica, who's in one of my classes. She loves to hear stories of my racing, but she always worries that I'll crash one day.

"If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?"
Probably buy a decent car and save the rest. I don't really have a use for so much money. Enough for gas, repairs, and food gets me through the days.

"Is there anything you really want in life?"
Not really, not that I can think of. I mean, I don't really have a girlfriend as of now, we had a really messy breakup a week ago. After we went out a few times she turned out to be this really obsessive girl. I mean, I couldn't even talk to my friends without her complaining and trying to pull me away. So I kinda yelled at her. I felt a little bad about it later, but she was making this huge scene, on her knees begging me to stay with her. But, I won't. There's no way that I'll leave my friends for a girl.

"Think of a number and a color."
What kind of stupid question is this? Fine. 7 and yellow.

"What do you fear?"
Crashing. It's not so much the getting hurt part, because I know that I can control my car better than about 90% of the population and I can avoid hurting myself in the car. It's the fear of hurting others or damaging my car. The sign of a bad racer is one who nicks against the guardrails or barriers. I couldn't even imagine if I had hurt someone else with my driving.

"Final question. Is there a significant other in your life?"
These questions are getting rather repetitive. No, there is not.

Man, it's getting late. I have a race this Saturday against a guy who claims that his car pulls a 12 second quarter mile. That's pretty decent for a street car, by the way, so I figure I'll teach him how to turn that round thing in front of him.

Heartbeat
From Initial D Soundtrack (I forget which one)

It's the beat of my heart
What you feel deep inside
And it means you better stay behind my love
It's the dance of your soul
That you try to release
Never unchain your hot emotions

Feel it, feel it baby feel the fire
Is burning deep inside me
Listen, listen honey listen to
Drum is in to you

Dance to the...heartbeat, woh oh oh
You better take your chances right now
Dance to the...heartbeat and let it go
Seek the power that in your body flows
Dance to the...heartbeat, woh oh oh
You better take your chances right now
Dance to the...heartbeat and let it go
Seek the power that in your body flows

It's the sound of your heart
That you hear deep inside
And it means you better change your plans right now
It's a whisper of life
That you try to believe
Never give up without defending

Feel it, feel it baby feel the fire
Is burning deep inside me
Listen, listen honey listen to
Drum is in to you

Dance to the...heartbeat, woh oh oh
You better take your chances right now
Dance to the...heartbeat and let it go
Seek the power that in your body flows
Dance to the...heartbeat, woh oh oh
You better take your chances right now
Dance to the...heartbeat and let it go
Seek the power that in your body flows

It's the beat of my heart
What you feel deep inside
And it means you better stay behind my love
It's the dance of your soul
That you try to release
Never unchain your hot emotions

Feel it, feel it baby feel the fire

Drum is in to you

Dance to the... heartbeat
Dance to the... heartbeat
Dance to the... heartbeat
