Value of Violence
History changes only for violence,
The world will only truly listen if there is destruction,
They will cock their ears only for the hearing of murder and mayhem,
or at least that is the way it seems
What does this say about human nature, of us as a people?
Does this mean someone has to point a gun at us before the words can begin
connect in our brains?
That we need to see evidence of a nuclear missile before a country has any
importance at all?
If this is so, do we not value the people, the writings and art of the
world?
Do we not value the life of a yet unborn baby or of a child starving in the
street?
And what of the calm and beauty of a stream on the other side of the world?
Do we truly not value any of this nor anything unless it has a gun or knife
or holds its hand above a red button?
