Angel of Blue Roses
By blue-raindrop
Prologue
The still night was heavy with thick fog. The midnight hour had passed summarily after a brief sprinkle of rain from the evening sky, and the busy streets of the city resisted from falling into a peaceful slumber. Cars flew by in dangerous speed, buildings looked down at its late customers gleefully, its lights of white dimmed to a much darker color by the creeping white smoke. Laughter mingled with lazy, drunk voices. A disheveled man, apparently poor, rubbed his red fingers together before settling under his blanket of newspapers. Opulent city guest walked about with their noisy shoes, sparkling jewels, and embellished clothing, carrying an air of eminence with them. A lively picture to contrast to the recumbent town snoozing quietly nearby the urban city. Here, the white wisps of low-lying clouds drifted comfortably, battling no midnight walker along its ramified paths. Except one area that is...
Its isolated basketball court seemed unbearably empty without its daytime players. A tall, massive structure, stared down mercilessly. Then, a mysterious yellow light shone through one of its many windows. The weak and eerie glow seemed to subtly imply a demonic act within its brick walls.
Delving inside the bizarre room, one's eyes would instantly fall on the flickering candle in the corner. Murmurs could be heard, distant from the light source. One spoke voluminously, but darkness veiled them, so one couldn't distinguish the dominant voice from the clutter of hooded figures. "...one rule...only one...in order to be accepted..." it said clearly, carrying a distinct acuity in her voice. The candle was moved by a gliding, hooded figure. Outside, one heard an ear-piercing scream and the dim, yellow light vanished from sight. A safe distance from the window grew beautiful blue roses. They had been growing increasingly in number and this year was the most fecund. In accord to their gradual abundance was the strengthening of their vivid color. Long ago, they were said to be the favorite flower of a white warrior, who was a protector of a beautiful mistress.
