Author’s Note: Daydreaming can be poetically fatal. The following is evidence that metaphors and vague adolescent fantasies do not mix. This is from a couple of years ago, too…hurrah for the posting of old poetry….

1.
I said “Beam me up”
And take me there
To that place
Where the stars shimmer
On your flaming copper hair
And I wonder
If the moon will cast shadows
To reveal
That glint in your eyes
Most often mistaken
For insanity.
2.
Lost in the mists
Of ocean-deep eyes
Skimming the surface
Of memories long forgotten
I told you to look
Where you could find
That location
Of endless night
Of glowing twilight
Where the meagre
Inky blackness
Highlights the pallid shade
Of your sun-dappled skin
And grinning teeth.
3.
Trembling in your presence
In the setting
Where the winds whisper
Silent songs
Like your promises
Bittersweet words
Resounding throughout
My existence.
You hold me
In the tender twilight
And hush my fears
Caressing my face
For a moment of immortality.
