I watched you, buying tickets
to the film festival
the dancing rainbow shadows on screen
to tie in with your obsessions...
Well, I'm like that too,
shallow and senselessly happy when
I can fall into rainbow shadows and
lie on my back in the shallows
of a dream river running through
the fog of my mind, the smoke on
my mirrored eyes.

I watched your stance. So you. So real.
The sagging cloth of your jeans
telling of a body that's strange, and so you.
I felt this curl of smoke inside
condensing in my chest, a wheel running 'round
not a big emotion, just strange and new and
so full of you
or my perception of you.

I thought I want to spend my life with you.
