Eve's Song
by Hyel
Wind.
It starts like this, the movement of air.
There's a tremble I feel
rising out
out of me
from within me, and
I sigh as it reaches my skin, this
breath of unnameable joy.
And then it follows, time
time treading by on lace-slippered feet,
the Fire of desire and the
serpent pressing close, with her
giddy little laugh and we
we entwine
one around the other like a pulsing universe
bringing forth a secret promise.
And I know as I know my soul
the worth and the importance of this naming
naming day
and I have a name that I give myself
and she has a name that she knows, and
the fruit from the Earth that wisdom sows
in me and in her spread the sweetness at last
at last at last I know!
My love enfolds
my brother, my darling, my man.
With little ways and little smiles I bring
him the gifts as best I know, but
he does not fully understand.
The world we made we made the two of us,
my lover, my serpent self,
from our Water of children and dust.
And as darkness descends and the dance begins
begins and quickens and whorls,
him and I and her, we three
perceive the others, the multiplicity of
our children of choice and meaning,
comprehension begins and the mysteries
secrets unfold for the Spirit that is
alive alive alive...
