~The Ocean and the Wolf~
by Hyel
He sits in the dark, my friend the
wolf,
with his golden eyes, beyond the gulf,
beyond the waters deep and brown,
yellow, filled with life deep down.
In the sea the naked fish, the seals,
and all other sealife swim over hills
sunken before I opened my eyes
and looked upon these empty skies.
If I step on water, I will fall
down to that forgotten hall
where kings of old loved and lied -
their loves with lies they had to hide.
And so today I sit on this shore
and look across to him once more
whose golden eyes call me there:
"Come here, and let me strip you bare."
I long to sit there by his side,
and have him eat this rotting hide,
and eat my bones, my gut, my heart
and naked leave me, never to part.
