Strangers At Sea
by Hyel

I dream I am at sea at night
and my self is my own boat
and the monsters in the sea afright
of me! I dare to gloat

do slither hither, dither
of boats, selves, love and she
who left me here to wither,
alone at sea for eternity.

I dream of depths of sea at night
I long to be a wave
I'm terrified of monsters afright
for want of them to save;

and tho I know there must be more
to this strange love of a solid shore,
perhaps, I think, the monsters are
but people who have found the far
and distant shore too solid, real
and found the sea's a high appeal.

If this boat will not crash or sink,
I will alone forever be. And think!
Perhaps she too will see me there
beneath the glittering sea so fair,
if only I should crash and burn
and allow the wheel of death to turn.
