Author’s Note: Ewww. This sounds so much like a book poem. You know, the kind that an English teacher would read as an example or something. Anyway, aside from that…I wrote this a while back, I don’t know about what…but here it is now…

*******

Does it matter to you?

The things I told you

In all seriousness

You’d think it would have more of an impact

Since I’m never this way.

Did it matter to you?

Did my words permeate your skull?

Or did my thought drift

Into one ear

And out the other.

Will you remember

A single answer I gave you

Or did you only ask

In a momentary lapse?

Will you ever reflect on this moment?

Thinking

That maybe what I said was true

And maybe you shouldn’t have denied

Every word

Just because it came from my lips-

Maybe

I knew in my heart

The cutting accuracy

Of the speech.

In the end

I know what I felt in that moment

I know my frustration

But what really counts

Is how much it mattered to you

If even at all.
