“So Akari, what are you doing this weekend?” Lena asked as she struggled to cram all her books into her backpack.
“Dunno really, I’m gonna hang with Mica tonight,” Akari answered.
“Are you freakin serious?” Lena asked.
“Umm….ya….” Akari answered, slightly startled by the shocked tone Lena had used.
Lena shook her head without a word, snapped her backpack closed and began to walk away.
“Hey! What’s your deal?” Akari asked, running after her.
“Does the name Mark mean anything to you?” Lena asked in a cold tone.
“What are you talking about Lena? Of course it does!”
“Then why have you spent the last three weekends with Mica instead of him?!” Lena cried out in frustration.
“Mica is still new here and doesn’t know many people, I just wanna make her feel like she has someone to go to and isn’t alone!”
“Ya well; she’s been here at least three weeks and has had plenty of time to settle,” Lena said coldly, turning around and once again walking off.
“Lena wait, you are being totally unreasonable!” Akari called after her.
“Ya whatever have fun fucking your girlfriend this weekend,” was all Lena said.
“What the hell? My girlfriend?! Why the hell would I want to be like that,” Akari yelled out loud, even though Lena was already gone.
“Hey Akari, are you ok?”
“Wha…”
“You look kinda spaced out, is everything ok?” Mica asked, sitting beside Akari.
Akari sighed; the afternoons fight still repeating over and over in her head. Why had Lena exploded like that? And why would she call Mica her girlfriend? She was only trying to be nice, Mica always seemed so lonely.
“Ya, just tired I suppose,” Akari lied.
“You know if anything is bothering you, you can always tell me about,” Mica said gently, taking her hand.
Usually Akari wouldn’t mind much, but Lena’s words echoed within her “…Have fun fucking your girlfriend this weekend” She flinched slightly, pulling away her hand. She noticed Mica’s confused look in her eyes but forced herself to ignore it. If she was giving Lena those ideas, who knew what kind of signals Mica was picking up.
Akari got up and picked up her bags, “I better get going, I promised mom I would be home for dinner,” she lied, needing an excuse to get away for a bit.
“Um ok, do you want me to walk you home or something?” Mica asked, getting up to follow her.
“No, I’ll be fine, call you later tonight,” Akari said and without waiting for a reply left, leaving a befuddled Mica standing in the doorway.
“That was really cold of you…” Akari muttered to herself as she walked home.
She finally arrived home, threw her coat down and walked into the living room.
“Mark!” she yelled in surprised when she saw who was sitting on the coach.
“Hey honey, what are you doing out in the cold on your own?” he asked, walking over to her and wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Just coming home from a friend’s,” Akari answered, being as general as possible, for she feared Lena may not be the only suspicious one.
“I see, well I was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner, we haven’t been out in a bit,” Mark asked her.
“Sure I’d love that! Just let me change real quickly,” Akari answered and bounded upstairs.
“There we go!” Akari said triumphantly as she finally decided on an outfit she liked.
She gazed at her reflection in the mirror as she brushed her long brown hair, letting her mind wander and once again the afternoon’s fight came into her head.
“Does the name Mark mean anything to you?!”
“Why have you spent the last three weeks with Mica instead of him?!”
“Ya whatever, have fun fucking your girlfriend”
“Of coarse it matters to me Lena,” she said softly, putting down the brush and going downstairs to meet Mark.
“I really missed you honey,” Mark said as he took Akari’s hand and helped her out of the car.
“I missed you too…sorry been busy lately, you know how it goes,” Akari lied again.
‘Damn, this whole thing is just snowballing’ Akari thought to herself.
“Ya, I understand,” Mark said as her led her into the restaurant.
She grinned, snuggling herself under Mark’s arm. Of coarse Mark meant something to her.
Akari had fallen into a dreamy like state and was quite startled when she felt an arm from behind reach out and grab her shoulder. She spun around quickly and her brown eyes met two very confused blue eyes.
“Hey Akari…”
“Oh….hey Mica…”
