Author’s Note (edited 12/4/03): From about a year ago…an outpouring of random tangents on screen. I’m the first to admit it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I understand what I felt, if not what I meant.

*******

Restless and beaten

How this angel has fallen from grace –

I wish you could go back to where you belong.

I would help you find the way

If only you asked.

You’re always tired

It’s hardly surprising

Invulnerability is your weakness

And it’s failing on you.

You just want to live a life

It’s not too much to ask

Just your own road to death

Nothing more.

If I could see right through you

I’d cry for you

Even though you’d ignore the tears.

You’ve become something better

You’ve become something worse

You’ve become something that I need

But I want to let you go and hold you tight.

You ask without asking

But I won’t say a word

Until you give me a thousand more.

You make me smile and make me cry

You make me indifferent in your presence

You make me hide myself in your eyes.

If I could tell you just one thing

I’d say something I always say

You never believe it

You never will.

I wonder why you can abide by this

Little faith that you have

It’s indirect and impatient

I never know why.

Could I tell you?

Would you want to know?

You do and I think you don’t.

If I could take one thing back

It would be everything I said

It got me in too deep

And now I’m drowning.

I’m trying to become something better

I’m striving to become something worse

I’m something I think you need

But you might have to let me go and hold me tight.

If I could make you smile, I might cry

If I would make you cry, I might smile

There’s nothing in your eyes

That I presume to know

Nothing in your eyes

That I don’t presume to feel.

Sometimes it’s easier to lie to you

Than tell the truth;

A lie is hard

But the truth is worse

Especially when covered by a lie.
