Burning Water Lilies

I wonder if the scent
of spring-summer water
lilies would make you
smile and your eyes
sparkle in the afternoon
sunlight, or if you would
scowl, wrinkle your nose
up and deprive me of
that sugar-sweet grin and
eyes the colour of dark
chocolate; you make me
hungry sometimes, and
others, you make me
burn, but always,
always you leave me
wanting, wanting your
love; would you want
me if I smirked at you
enticingly, or if I
played it coy, like a
kitten, not a cat, or
maybe you want me to
be a mystery, enigmatic
as the first lines of
this poem. why can't we
just skip all the games;
why can't you embrace
me and burn me inside
just a little more; it's
better than the ice that
covers me with your
frown. just burn me
alive, please, just
stop playing games...
quit teasing me.
