Ryan (2003)

I still remember your warm
brown eyes and the smile that
crept across your face when
I would come 'round.

I remember the brown hair
that fell in your eyes and
how you played with it
more than I did with mine.

How you always had
something in your hands;
something to crumple, to
ball up in your palm,
or how you sometimes
snapped your fingers
when you talked.

Your laugh was so
contagious; I smiled
even when I was
nervous.

And I used to shut
my eyes sometimes;
I would just listen
to your voice.

That was when I thought
your words were sincere.
When I thought you meant
what you said.

Only a litte anger,
the rest all tears.

How could you?
How could you?

Was everything lies?
Did you mean anything,
did I mean anything
at all?

But I remember your
face and then I realize:

No cold heart could lie
behind those eyes.
