She sits in a corner

Crying out loud

Watching the fist that

is coming down

The once caring man

She called father

Ran away from

Her mother

He left her alone

With this evil man

That gets his pleasure

By striking with his hand

She cries for her mother

But she cannot come

Because the man not her father

To he she belongs

After the bruises

Have formed on her body

She asks him why

'cuz you were naughty'

but naughty she is not

She had done no wrong

She just sat there

Singing her sad song

Later that night

As she lay in her bed

She prayed to god

To heal his head

She asked why

He is like this

Why everyday

He continues to hurt her

Her mother overhears

And packs everything away

She asks why

Because I heard you pray
