The Dragon Changer
Fire burns the midnight sky
And all don’t notice but one eye
The young man senses something wrong
No longer hearing the Dragons’ Song
His very Tongue is leaving him
And his emerald eyes are growing dim
His dragon blood grows sluggish, true
He knows his time is coming, too
His familiar snake whispers in his ear
The meaning of the murmurs becomes clear
The young man must begin to leave
And be to the mountains by this eve
Midsummer’s night has arrived at last
His dragon side finishing a magic fast
The time has come to learn to shift
To build a bridge across this rift
The Guardian dragon challenges first
Questioning on his knowledge hunger thirst
The young man replies he hungers all ways
Receiving only touch of well earned praise
The Seeker than raises her worried thought
Curious to see how much magic’s sought
He returns a comment to the wise
Magic with humans always dies
The Organizer brings the initiation to a close
The final question thought, brought and arose
Why does the dragon blood call to you?
Answer- human is only outside; the dragon is true
The Organizer gives a very short nod
And brought forth is a blue crystallized pod
The young man questions, curious and all
Get into the pod, comes the return call
He closes himself off from the world
His mind and wings have been closed and furled
He now releases his dragon side
And throws himself to the dragon tide
Fire burns the midnight sky
The dragons give a collective sigh
The young man is now a young dragon
And flies golden-red like the rising sun
He returns back to the ground
And changes back without a sound
Time to return back to his life
And not give anyone too much strife
Dragon blood come to terms with man
He now belongs to the dragon clan
He is now only human here
That is, until the new next year.
