And then there was silence,
He didn't wanna turn,
His muscles were tense.
His fists still clenched,
As he breaths in and out, slow,
Doesn't wanna look at what
He's done so he'll go.
He turns away, and backs out,
Leaving her lying there,
Sobbing on the floor,
The pain is too much to bear.
She passes out, her friend arrives,
And immediately phones the police,
Soon she'll be in hospital,
Soon the pain will cease.
The physical pain anyway, as
The pain in her soul and heart,
Together with the constant fear,
Will slowly tear her apart.
The man didn't know
He could cause all this pain,
He's found dead a week later,
Collapsed with the strain.
And she is forgotten.
The girl, hiding in a room,
She will forever be silent,
Her thoughts full of doom.
The police come to find her,
She doesn't say a thing,
In her hand is clasped
Her mother's wedding ring.
Who would have thought
Just one angry night
Could cause so much hurt?
It was just one fight.
But a family torn apart,
It happens all the time.
Their lives forever tainted,
By this forgotten crime.
