Prologue

“No, no, no!” Ray cried out loud. “Jeez! Why can’t they just get pass this and gain access?”

“Accessible? Well, maybe it’s because you didn’t press the button to make them move around,” Jennifer suggested.

“Yeah, right,” Ray grumbled, but a moment later, he shouted in victory and wonder.

“ Hey, you’re right!” Ray shouted. Jennifer rolled her eyes.

The two were playing a computer game called Mission in Kaneboro. The mission was to obtain information about the underworld and escape. The point was that if the balance between the overworld and the underworld was tilted, the information could be used to balance the two worlds. It was usually Kaneboro, the underworld that tried to dominate Mythopia, the overworld.

The missionaries were from the overworld. There were twenty missionaries to choose from, and there were two campsites, each holding ten people. A player could only choose one of the camps and use the missionaries there. The limit was five to each exploration party.

Ray and Jennifer had chosen Lance, Avi, Leo, Ronny, and Tammy. Lance was a swordsman. Avi was an elfin mage. Leo was an elf armed with a knife. Ronny had a staff and an axe. He was a woodsman. Tammy, on the other hand, was an elfin warrior armed with a sword.

Now, at this time, the group had just fought their way back to the camp successfully. They were resting. The only part left to finish the game was to escape from Kaneboro, the underworld.

“So, who do you want to pick for the escape? Who are you going to choose?” Jennifer asked.

“Well, I’m thinking. We could use Lance, Tammy, and Avi. They’re really good,” Ray answered.

“We still need two more,” Jennifer replied. “While you sit around and decide who you’re going to use, I’ll pack some food, drinks, and snacks for the trip.”

“The trip? You mean the one with Arthur’s family, right?”

“Yep.” Jennifer nodded. She picked up a knapsack from the floor and started tossing items into it. When the knapsack was fairly full and she was finished, Jennifer walked over to Ray and asked, “Are you ready?”

“Ready for what? If you’re talking about the trip, yes! I’m completely ready!” Ray replied.

“No, not that one. I meant the game. Did you pick the last two characters yet?”

            “Oh!”

            “So?”

“I don’t know who to use. I’m going to try the attributes block. Then, that should give me a better idea of who to use and pick. Hmm....... I wonder who’s in the blank attributes boxes.

Ray clicked one of the empty boxes. Nothing happened at first. Then, the whole screen began to glow strangely.

“Umm, Ray, is the computer malfunctioning?” Jennifer asked.

            “I dunno,” Ray stuttered.

Then, suddenly, there was a violent jolt and a brilliant and blinding flash. Jennifer and Ray couldn’t see anything in that time period. Each felt a strange sensation.
