Scare Fair Part 1

Two weeks after the rock band concert, The Talent Club is yet again busy for another event. Mikoru didn't mind it, after all he manage to get two weeks rest of no-event-activities-meetings from Talent Club. Neya kept her promise of giving him a break. He just wished it was longer. Two weeks went by like a breeze to him. Short-lived but worth it. Because of too much free time, he manage to hang out with his friends, especially Kisa. He and Mamoru took turns taking her home. Not only that, he got Kisa out for a movie date. Though Ayaka and Mamoru was with them, he got Kisa seating besides him inside the movie theater. Simple moments like that with the girl was a heaven to him. A perfect heaven.

Now, another moment presents himself to him to express his secret feelings to girl. He just approved an event that Erika passed recently. Despite, Erika's bad background, the girl's proposal is too good to dismiss. The event is called Scare Fair. Halloween is around the corner, and the event propose to have a Halloween fair in the school. They will invite other schools to attend the fair to gather funds. They would have scary rides, playing booths, scary activities but the main highlight of the fair would be the Haunted House that Erika called Nightmare Mansion.

How could this event be a way to express himself to the girl? As if it's a Valentine's Day event. Mikoru cleverly assigned Kisa to be his assistant in handling matters for the event. Mamoru begged Mikoru to differ and have Kisa in his team to design the special effects and monsters for the haunted house. Kisa shook her head to it.

"I don't have the guts to design monsters Mamoru-kun... too scary."

Those were her words. Painful to Mamoru's ears but nevertheless accepted the girl's decision. To Mamoru, those words were beautiful. So here he is, in a meeting with the sponsors seating side by side with Kisa. The girl is talking animatedly with one of the sponsors trying to close a deal. They were talking to the managers of the famous amusement park in Japan. Mikoru is hoping that they would be able to close a good deal without spending too much. He manage to close a good deal with the other sponsors. He is having a hard time with the rides.

"Hmmm... all right, we'll give you 40 off" one of the managers replied. Kisa bows her head saying, "Arigato gozaimasu!" Mikoru couldn't help grinning. He knew Kisa could persuade them. The girl has this undying enthusiasm in her not too mention a knack of creating a very good rapport with people. Building trust is one of Kisa's forte.

"Well, that would be all. Thank you minna-san." Mikoru replied bowing his head. Kisa bowed her head with a smiling face. The sponsors bid goodbye and left the room. When they were gone, Mikoru gave Kisa a high-five and said, "Great going Kisa! You should be a businesswoman!" Kisa giggled and said, "Nah I rather be a manager of a band." with that they laughed.

"So, where do you want to eat lunch?" Mikoru asks as he opens the door. Kisa places her forefinger on her lips and said, "Anou... I'm not sure."

As they stepped out of the room, Mikoru folds his arms and said, "Hmm... are you for a sushi platter? I know a great place for that." Kisa nods her head and said, "Okay, that would suffice" Mikoru then did something that obviously he didn't think twice doing it. He took Kisa's right hand and entwined his fingers with hers. This gesture surprised the girl but never questioned it. The two of them left the building hand-in-hand like lovers strolling in the park.

AFTER AN HOUR OR SO
RYU REI HIGH (TALENT CLUB HQ)

Mamoru wiped the sweat off his brow. His team has finally finished designing the monsters. Now they are set for the special effects they would put for Nightmare Mansion. A familiar laughter distracted him. His eyes averted towards the door and sees Kisa and Mikoru entering, laughing. Laughing together. The image is painful for him. Disgustingly painful.

"He told me he doesn't have feelings for Kisa-chan. What is this I am seeing?" Mamoru thought gritting his teeth. He hold back his annoyance when Kisa approaches him handing a plastic container. "Mamoru-kun, Mikoru-kun and I went for a Sushi Platter for lunch. We decided to bring some for you guys here."

Mamoru took the container and muttered a thanks. Kisa noticed the foul mood dawning over Mamoru and said, "Mamoru-kun... you don't seem cheerful today." Mamoru sighed and said, "Just tired I guess..." but at the back of his mind, he was screaming, 'They ate lunch together! Sushi Platter!!"

"Well, we have good news. I hope it will alleviate a bit of the tiredness. We closed a very good deal with the sponsors." Mikoru replied giving everyone a peace sign. Everybody cheered except for Mamoru. Mamoru forced himself to smile. "Mikoru is in an extremely good mood nowadays." Neya commented. "It probably because of Kisa."

Mamoru glares at Neya and spat, "What are you implying?" Neya raised an eyebrow at him and said, "Don't let jealousy ruin this friendship we have Hidaka. I'm warning you. That. That will hurt Kisa a lot." the words hit Mamoru really hard that he flinched. Neya then smiled softly and said, "Have a fair fight Mamoru-kun. That's all I ask." with that she walks away.

"Yo Mamoru!" Mikoru greeted as he slaps his friend on the back, "How's the monsters?" he asks. Mamoru sighed. Neya is right. He grins and exclaim, "Scary as hell. We're working on the special effects now." Mikoru nods his head and said, "Good. Nightmare Mansion would be a hit."

An obnoxious laugh is heard. They turned their heads to Erika who is surrounded with her "friends". Erika eyes Mikoru and said, "Of course, it's my idea and I have to thank you Mikoru-kun for approving it." Mikoru puts his hands in his pocket and said, "It is a good proposal. Something I cannot dismiss." Mamoru nods his head in agreement and said, "Yep, but it doesn't change the fact that you merely suggested it and we're working our ass off for it."

Erika grits her teeth saying, "What the hell are you implying Hidaka?!" Mikoru bit his lip trying not to laugh. He smirks and said, "Well, we're doing our best to have this proposal to become a reality while you are slacking off with your friends." Erika flushed and said, "Of course not! I'm the head of the costume department!"

"How are the costumes?" Mikoru asks. Erika folds her arms and said, "All done. Like I said, I was not slacking." Ayaka appeared saying, "They are indeed finished because your team labored hard for it without you pitching in." Erika gave Ayaka a death glare and said, "How dare you accuse me." Mikoru sighed and said, "Enough! I don't want to jinx this event with these bickers." he then eyed Erika and said, "I hope that you're telling the truth Erika. If not, you'll be demoted."

Erika gulps. She took a deep breathe and haughtily left the room with her "friends". Kisa who was watching said, "That was harsh." Neya shook her head and said, "Nope. Those were the rules. Erika is on the edge of being demoted. Another blunder her title EMPRESS will be GOVERNESS." Kisa looks at her ID. Her level has reached PRINCESS already. She just realized that she is nearing one of the top title positions in the talent club.

"You know what, you are more of a secretary than Erika." Neya replied winking at her. Kisa blushed. She never thought of running for a position in the Talent Club. All she want is to prove that she has the talent and she deserves to study in Ryu Rei even if she is not rich. Mamoru grins and said, "Oh well, let's forget about Erika and eat the sushi that Mikoru and Kisa bought for us." Soon enough, the sushis were out and everyone is eating happily.

AFTER SCHOOL HOURS
PARKING LOT

Kisa walked towards the school parking lot. Mamoru was suppose to take her home but he has to do some over time work for the special effects. Mikoru jumps in to give her a ride. The ruby-red eyed girl agreed to meet Mikoru in the parking lot since she has to return some materials to the art room. As she walks towards the limo where Mikoru is kneeling behind, she couldn't help but stop and observe the handsome president of the Talent Club.

Handsome is an understatement. His short silver-gray hair billowed through the soft wind. His long bangs brushing against those serious amethyst eyes. Those eyes didn't look piercing and cold, they look serious and solemn. Mikoru is reading something, perhaps the minutes of the meeting that Erika jotted down awhile ago. At that moment, Kisa found herself breathless. Mikoru is not just handsome. He is beautiful. The thought made her blush slightly.

"Kisa?"

The red-brown haired girl snapped from her thoughts saying, "Anou Mikoru-kun, gomen, I took so long." Mikoru shoo his head saying, "No problem Kisa-chan. Common, let's go."

Mikoru then noticed the slight redness on the girl's cheeks and asks, "Kisa, are you okay? You look red." Kisa shook her head trying to suppress her blushing fit and said, "I'm fine Mikoru-kun. I just tired I guess." Mikoru placed his hand over the girl's forehead saying, "Hmmm... well you're not feverish but I hope you'll rest tonight. I don't want you sick."

"I can't afford to be sick. I'm your assistant for this event" Kisa replied getting into the car. Mikoru followed suit. When he is settled he replied, "You're more that an assistant to me Kisa-chan. You're a special friend of mine." This made Kisa blush ten-fold.

AFTER A WEEK
SCHOOL GROUNDS

A week has passed and everything is set for the fair except for the rides. Right now, the people from the amusement park are setting up the rides. Mikoru was taking care of it along with Kisa. Mamoru and his team are currently having a dry run on the Nightmare Mansion. They asked Ayaka and Neya and two other guys to try it out.

A few minutes later, the four of them ran out screaming. Ayaka who is ever gentle smacked Mamoru on the shoulder saying, "That was scary you idiot!" Neya who was teary-eyed saying, "No way I'm getting in there again." The two boys nod their heads in agreement. Mikoru rubs his chin and said, "Looks like Nightmare Mansion is going to scare a lot of people by Friday."

"Neya, Ayaka, my you two look frightened." Kisa replied looking concerned. Mikoru decided to give her a break and get something to eat, seeing her two girl friends shaking in fear, Kisa decided to approach them.

"That is because the Nightmare Mansion's monsters and special effects are damn scary! I almost thought it was real." Ayaka replied shuddering trying to compose herself. Kisa smiled at Mamoru and said, "Looks like you're successful with the all the work."

Mamoru grins and said, "Yep. By the way, are you on a break? Let's grab some food." Kisa nod her head, upon hearing the word food, Ayaka perked up and said, "I prepared some rice balls for everyone, I'll go get it." Neya decided to help Ayaka in getting the food leaving Mamoru and Kisa together.

"How's the rides?" Mamoru asks. Kisa's smile widens and said, "It's doing great. The people will love the rides." with that she sat down on a mono block chair saying, "Being an assistant is a hard work, to think Mikoru is in charge of this, I admire him for having so much energy." Mamoru nod his head and said as he sat down besides her, "Well, it's training for him since he'll be running the business by the time his father retires."

Kisa looks at Mamoru and noticed the slight sadness in his eyes. She place her hand on the emerald-green eyed boy's right shoulder asking, "How are you Mamoru? We weren't able to talk like this since this event started rolling."

"I'm pretty fine Kisa. We were all busy so it couldn't be help that we won't get to hang around with each other that much" Mamoru replied forcing a smile. Kisa looked at him straight in the eye and said, "Usotsuki." Mamoru's forced smile disappears. He knew he can not lie to Kisa that he's not that all fine. He misses her. He is a bit sad that he couldn't spend that much time with her as Mikoru is. He is tad jealous of course but he can't let his feelings get in the way of their friendship.

"Things were pretty stressful for me lately and well, I kind of miss you Kisa." Mamoru replied half truthfully.

"You miss me?" Kisa asks looking naive. Mamoru places his left hand over the right hand of Kisa that is placed on his right shoulder and said, "I got used to having you around by my side, that's all." Kisa smiles softly and said, "Oh Mamoru... thanks. I actually miss everyone. After this, let's have a get together."

"That would be cool!" Ayaka replied suddenly. Mamoru seemingly jumped from his seat and blushed. Ayaka and Neya just caught them in a very slight intimate position. Ayaka who dismissed what she saw, handed Mamoru a rice ball and a can of juice saying, "Here eat, I know you're starving."

Kisa looked across the school ground seeing Mikoru still busy checking things with the people from the amusement park, took a two rice balls from Ayaka and a two cans of juice. "I'll be right back guys." she said walking towards the amethyst-eyed boy. As she was out of earshot, Ayaka replied, "Sorry for interrupting Mamoru."

"You guys weren't interrupting anything." Mamoru replied scratching his head blushing. Neya rolls her eyes and said, "Usotsuki."

Mikoru felt something cold against his skin. He looked to his right and there is Kisa handing him a can of juice and a rice ball. He took both muttering a thanks. "You should rest and eat." Kisa replied. Mikoru took a huge bit on the rice ball and said, "I know but I have to make sure that things are doing swell. I don't want accidents to happen."

"The only accident happening is you fainting because you're overworked." Kisa replied almost pouting. Mikoru smiled cutely at Kisa and said, "You're like my wife nagging me you know." Kisa blushed and said, "Your wife?"

Mikoru laughs and said, "I was joking Kisa. Anyway, you should eat too." Kisa sighed and took a bite from her rice ball. She then looked at the merry-go-round and said, "Mikoru-kun, let's have a get together after this. I miss everyone. We were so busy we weren't able to be together as a group." Mikoru then looks at Kisa's soft features and said, "As you wish my lady."

NOT SO FAR AWAY

Erika grits her teeth as she watches Kisa and Mikoru talk and be chummy together. She doesn't understand how could a commoner like Kisa can actually get the attention and affection of her precious Hishikawa Mikoru. It is unfair that someone popular and rich like her never get a chance to be actually liked by him.

"That bitch, I hope she dies in fright in this fair." she thought clenching her fist. She smiled wickedly and muttered, "Indeed she'll die of fright."
