Five Finger
Sometime in 2003

This song is about the good ol' "five finger discount" and the penalties that come with it. Dedicated to Natasha Sanders and Amanda Toole, who blamed each other for the theft of someone's mobile phone.
You take everything that you touch
Especially if it's not yours
While the shops are losing profits
You are crawling, down on all fours
Sneak the things into your jacket
Walk out the door without a care
Other people will pay the price
What makes you think that this is fair?

The things you get on a five finger discount
Are worthless to you when you're in jail
You might be getting a good deal right now
But it won't mean nothing when you fail

The shops around are going broke
All because you refuse to pay
You see something that you've wanted
Take it, hide it, then walk away
A camera has seen you do it
And the guards are coming your way
Dragged into a paddy wagon
I told you that one day you'd pay

The things you get on a five finger discount
Are worthless to you when you're in jail
You might be getting a good deal right now
But it won't mean nothing when you fail
