Show Night

-Written Spring 02

.

Five months preparing,

Comes down to three hours

Nervous anticipation

As the house opens, and act one begins

Dialogue, songs and dances

Then intermission and more waiting

More scenes, songs and dancing

Then it’s the end of act two.

We sing the final song,

The last chord fades away

Our cast takes a bow

The audience stands and cheers

The lights dim

The curtain closes

And I smile

.

Five months preparing.

Comes down to mere hours

Nerves fly as the house opens, and act one begins.

With dialogue, songs and dances

The intermission comes, and waiting begins anew.

The scenes they continue, mixed with songs and dancing

Until finally it’s the end of act two.

As we sing the final song,

And the last chords fade away

Our cast takes a bow

While the audience stands

And the audience cheers

The lights they do dime,

And the curtain does close

I’ve a smile on my face,

As plain as my nose.
