How There Became Snow

Hadea, Lady of the Underworld, sits on her throne in the center of the earth. Her bluish black hair is a stark contrast to the flames surrounding her. Black silk makes up her dress which, combined with her height makes her seem fragile. The expression she wears is anything but vulnerable. She wears a bloodstone necklace, its color like its name, enhanced by the brilliance.

Hadea envies the humans who are able to live on land where there are resources and life, while she is forever the keeper of souls, death always near. She seeks to rob them of everything they have. At the edge of the village she commands the fire of hell to consume their lands. At once the fields are ablaze sending the villagers fleeing their homes, children being dragged alone. The conflagration moves quickly through the half grown fields. All at once the fire ceases, the flames dispersed. The villagers' Gods intervene to save their followers.

To ensure that Hadea could never cause harm to the people of earth, they locked her in the stars. The people hearing the news that Hadea was to be banished they rejoiced and made offerings. Knowing that with their crops destroyed they could never survive winter, the gods sent a heavy rain. As one final act to get revenge for being exiled Hadea used the stardust to freeze the rain, turning it to snow.
