I promised myself not to write anything war-related; but the news Sunday keep fleshing in my head.

War and News by Princess Mulan

The coming of a war,
it brings out the fear of us all.
We watch TV news,
try to learn what’s going ­on.
On screen an angry American screams, “Iraq are all beasts!”
Then a mad Iraq yells, “Americans are liars!”

An Iraq calling American liars;
why would you show that before war?
It’s just ONE Iraq talking, no ALL.
If you put that on the news,
there will be more trouble from now on.
And what will Iraq think, seeing us call them beasts?

Iraq might really become beasts,
and gives us names worse than liars.
We’re all worry sick about the war,
and your coverage isn’t helping at all.
I wish that two men weren’t in the news;
I wish you had put something else on.

What if young kids turn the TV on,
and see the American man who calls Iraq beast?
If kids think Iraq calls American liars,
it might bring more unnecessary war.
Then there won’t Peace in the future for us all.
Please don’t educate kids with these kinds of news.

If you keep showing these kinds of news,
you give us no hope and trust to work on.
Who will work with someone that calls them ­beasts?
Who want to trust someone that calls them liars?
I am hoping we can quickly end the war,
and yet you’re bringing out the anger in us all.

If you care for us at all,
show the consequence of war on your news;
tell people the horror a war bring on.
We don’t think Iraq is beasts,
we don’t need to hear Iraq call us liar,
We just want No More War!

We are all humans, not lairs or beasts;
We all hate to see a fool calling us lairs on TV news.
Please stop all these lairs nonsense and fight this war.

This is long.  I hope this is not too grouchy.  This is my first Sestina and I didn’t know it is so lengthy.  (I mostly write Haikus and they much shorter)  I know it’s silly to write about this.  That new really bugs me even though it shouldn’t.
