Breathless

I woke up and it was dark

                And dreary

And the sky threatened black and horrible while I

Stumbled out of bed and started a cold shower that

Never

Got

Warm

And I was shivering and nothing could warm me up and the blackness rushed in and broke over me like an ocean wave crashing over the rocks

Beating me senseless and into submission

And I was falling into the black water and turning over and over in its dark clutches while helpless and naked like a newborn babe

And all I could do was

Cry

Out

Until strong hands took me back to the warm light.
